Well... Philly went on record saying they were going to be aggressive this summer.
They want to add 3 - 4 26 year old players on 4-5 year deals ideally. - At ALL positions. W, C, D and G

    Hayes would be 1.

Still a chance... Philly has to sign him still

    Couturier
    Patrick
    Hayes
    Giroux
    Laughton.

Interesting to see what Philly does.
Giroux full time back to the wing?
    Patrick a #3C next year?

    Philly far from done.

Now the Flyers will have bloated walrus contracts for JVR and Hayes. Twice the fun at the buyouts.

Chuck Fletcher and Paul Holmgrem both at it again. They better not overpay. Hayes completely disappeared in the playoffs.

4 goals, 13 points in 40 career playoff games IIRC.

You know they will. I was very worried about the Fletcher hire, and it looks like with good reason. Holmgren was the guy who needed to go, not Hextall.

I have a feeling we're also going to see a cheaper version of a Bryzgalov contract.

Nice insulation for Patrick if they do get him signed... with Hart graduating and the D already in place Philly suddenly becomes a pretty nice team

I wont lie, I really expected Montreal to go after Hayes. I am not sure Philly is a great fit but we'll see I guess. One has to guess the chances of him not signing there now are pretty slim.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I’m surprised we don’t see more of these type of trades. It’s make perfect sense for both teams. Toronto did it with their unsigned prospect and Winnipeg get a better return with their pending UFA. Why not get ahead of the other 29 teams if you have a player targeted for the summer and get your own negotiation window to sign him?

Coach Vigneault probably asked for him. Depending on the contract, he could be a nice add on what would be a very solid top 9.

With his 6'-5" frame there's still hope for some kind of late breakout for Hayes.

    You got that right!!

Five steps backwards with Holmgrem, , Six steps forward with Hextall, and now we will see seven steps backwards with Holmgrem and Flether.

It is actually possible, given the 80/20 rule and the fact that Hayes is 6'5 and has played 381 career regular season games. There might be another level above this one that has yet to be seen.
