    Default Kopitar or D.Strome

For the league in my sig

    my Kopitar [email protected]

for D.Strome [email protected] and extendable up to 4yrs after

I know Kopi had a down year but he’s one of the best in Fo% vs Strome’s negative in that cat. Also the deployment is in Kopitar’s favor. Strome’s stats where good but underlying numbers showed he overachieved. Skating is still a concern in my eyes. What side are you taking and why?

Kopitar is going to have the better stats, but is it worth the cost difference? I don't think it'll be too far off, and with Strome's value with the option of extending him, I think it's worth considering that he may be the one to go with.

Also depends how likely it is you can put the cap to better use and whether you could use one as trade bait, making Strome the surefire better pick there.

Youre going to get somewhat similar numbers from each of these guys at the current state of their careers. One costs $5M less and has a lot of term left. Math doesnt lie.

I prefer Strome for the cost savings and because he is extendable...I was a little worried about the FO% because Kopitar is a stud in that area, but I was surprised to see that Strome was close to 50% (48.x). Draisaitl is around 50% also, and Larkin is very strong in that category, so you should be at least average in FO%. That said, even if getting rid of Kopitar costs you the FO% category most weeks in your H2H matchups, with the money saved by adding Strome over Kopitar, your lineup should be a little stronger in other areas (if you spend the saved money wisely).

It's worth this deal in cost savings alone. I'd even venture to say Strome will stay very close to Kopi in most other cats as well this year.

You guys have said everything I was thinking and it’s much appreciated. This is a deal I was offering to shave some
cap as I’m up against it. He declined it as he probably has the same line of thinking and he’s in rebuild as well. He did say he’d consider a counter. I’m debating wether I add a pick or prospect to make the deal happen. I might just hold tight as I’m under the cap and injury is bound to strike (ir doesn’t count against the cap). What kinda + do y’all think it would take to get a deal done? If it’s an Elvenes and a late rounder I think I’d be willing but a Logan Brown I wouldn’t. I forgot to mention Strome’s max extension would be [email protected].

Could you extend Strome at less money for a shorter time?

I agree that something small like a late pick and Elvenes would be worth it, but a guy like Brown isn't.

I admit having to look up who Elvenes is, so if that means anything, I'd be ok including him and a pick to make the deal happen. Without knowing anything about Elvenes, other than what I just read in Dobber's prospect guide, he is a lower-tier prospect (also why I didn't know who he is, I guess ).

Logan Brown is an interesting prospect partially because he is so big (obviously), but mostly because Ottawa has a lot of holes in their roster, so Brown could be an NHL regular sooner than later. That said, he is far from a sure-fire fantasy asset, so he wouldn't be a deal breaker for me in most deals, including this one.

Strome was a strong FO% C in Jr. and in the AHL. Most C's - Crosby included struggle their first year or two in the dot. I suspect he'll become a 53%+ guy over the next couple of years.

I would take that $$ savings every time. between these two.

Yes I can extend him for shorter and less money 2yr@2M or [email protected].

SeaDawg- Elvenes is definitely in under the radar pickup. Dobber and crew aren’t as high on him as some. Pronman is high on him as he made his top 100 prospect list last year. Depending on how he does in the A next year his value could soar.

Nice to have those extension flexibility options.

As for Elvenes, he has some upside, but so do 100 other prospects like him - and they won't all reach it. I would rather move him for a known return, and then pick up another guy just like him.
