I have. Ken Holland is probably a step in the right direction but there are a plethora of issues with scouting and development in that organization so lets not pop the champagne just yet. I remember Leafs fans a few years back hailing Babcock as the savior and that hasnt really panned out.

Im not popping anything myself, but I too recognize the change in philosophy so far which appears to be a step in the right direction. Much like Holland has patience with his prospects, Oilers fans will have to have patience with this team and his process. He inherited a big ole mess and its not going to fix itself overnight.

We hailed Shannahan as the saviour. Babcock was more like the cherry on top. It's not like the Leafs are a failure. I mean AM, MM, WN are all under 22.

Axe, I hope so. You poor devils have had a team whose season highlight film is mostly footage from the draft lottery for over a decade. It takes a whole organization buying into a philosophy and sacrificing self in a commitment to win. Holland comes from such a culture, the question is can he imprint that belief system in Edmonton?

He's a RFA at seasons end and I will be surprised if STL even tenders him an offer.
Didn't think of Fabs...but kudos Axe... Right you are. He could EASILY do what Eberle did at this best moments in Edmonton with the caveat... can he stay healthy. Really would love to see him thrive having watched him develop in Guelph.

You have to think they are looking for help in the blue line. The Soilers have some interesting D prospects. But I think they will be looking for an upgrade for their top 4. It's probably a good idea for them to pursue a D through free agency given the results they get when trading assets for one.

That's exactly what the Oilers need, more overpaid Dmen who cant live up to their contracts. Great!

Reading the recent Ken Holland interview with the Athletic, it sure doesn't sound like the Oilers are looking at any additions on the blueline beyond perhaps the draft. Instead looking to fill out their forward group. Seems like they'll be looking for at least three top-6 wingers.

Would trading Lucic for Eriksson constitute 1/3 top six wingers?

No, but Eriksson could be an upgrade to the third line.
