I guess Reaves going for a first rounder doesn't qualify.
I hope they finder a cheaper option, but this is Benning we are talking about.

"Oilers interested in Zaitsev" - because, of course they are.

(and the Canucks as well apparently)

I still don't buy the apparent amount of interest in Zaitsev. That's a bad contract for a guy that isn't very good defensively and doesn't put up points. It's yet another example of contract term being a major problem.

Wouldn't this just be the worst way to kick off the Ken Holland tenure. I don't get the logic behind such a move, unless a bad deal is going back the other way.

I don't think I'm going out on a limb saying the Leafs are not interested in Lucic.

Hearing some additional thoughts on it is that this would be their way of getting at a Brown or Kapanen. Again, it's mostly speculation other than there has been interest/discussions.

Oilers would be interested in Zaitsev but someone like Brown would have to be included in the package. As usual though, the contracts going the other way will be the problem. The Leafs won't want Lucic, so discussions probably end quickly.

It's an interesting thought. Can they pull this off and absorb both salaries (Zaitsev and Brown/Kapanen) given their current situation?

I would expect Toronto to want a D in return. Russell maybe?
