Default 3 of Benn, PLD, Karlsson, Buff, Risto, Meier, Atkinson, Weber

Yahoo roto keep 5, starting 3/3/3/4D/1U/2G
    Counting: G, A, +/-, PPP, SOG, PIM, Hits / W, Gaa, Sv%, Sho

    Definitely keeping Andersen & Mackinnon

Despite Karlsson having a couple down years, I think I have to keep him. Most inclined to go Benn and Meier after that (If Panarin stays, and PLD maintains lw eligibility maybe him over Meier?)

Am I on the right track? Tough to axe multi-cat monsters like Weber, Buff, Risto, and the G and SOG of Atkinson, but a bunch have to go.

    Thanks

    1. MacKinnon
    2. Karlsson
    3. Buff
    4. Benn
    5. Panarin

In your format, I'm not sure I'm keeping Freddie Andersen.
Toronto has major cap issues going forward - not sure how strong the team can maintain to be.
This will have been their best regular season year.
If you can trade players, now is the time to sell high on Andersen.

You have to keep Buff in PIM format... he's just really good.
Benn still has it, IMO... as does Karlsson - where he ends up.

Panarin is super solid, and if he joins that FLA top six, you could get a 90pt season out of him with a high-end center like Barkov.
    I think it happens.

Meier, PLD, Atkinson, Risto... all great options too... but these are my five.

PLD - He's the new Benn
Karlsson - still a top end D option, if not the top of the top end
    Meier - entering his own.

    Thanks all.

Peng - I'm looking at move Freddie. I agree the time is ripe for moving on. You misread I think - I don't own Panarin. I own PLD and believe his value is tied a bit to Panarin.

Lucafen - PLD over Benn even with Panarin moving on? What about if Duchene stays? He got 10 points in 23 games post-Duchene.

he's young, still improving, coming into his own. I am not concerned about him become a stud regardless of Panarin, if there's a production hit, it'll be short term.

    I wouldn't say I misread it.
I'd say you could have written it more clearly.

    Andersen would be my 5th.
Probably Meier, PLD (if W), Atkinson, PLD (if C only)... in that order, after that.

I'll try not to bite the hand that feeds. Thanks for your thoughts.

To add a wrinkle, I do also own Seguin who I assume is an auto-keep. I've been dangling Seguin in trade ideas, which is why I didn't include him in the list. Just got some interest in Seguin + Andersen for Malkin + Vas.

    Without the trade:
    Mack
    Seguin
    Karlsson
    2 of Benn/Buff/Andersen/Meier/PLD

    With the trade:
    Mack
    Vas
    Karlsson
    2 of Benn/Malkin/Buff/Meier/PLD

    Anyhoo

    I make that trade.

Malkin/Meier become the two I keep

I prefer keeping vas to keeping Andersen. I'd also be fine with the trade.

    Mack
    Karlsson
    Vas
    Malkin

The 5th is quite tricky. If you can pull off another 2 for 1 upgrade that would probably be best. You can make a case for any of them. Id prob cut buff from the list myself because you're already keeping a d man and a goalie (I want at least 3 forwards in this setup) and because I think there's a good chance the Jets will rest him alot next season.

A winger would be preferable to a center as you already have two so that leaves Benn or Meier. Gun to my head probably Benn but I don't think you can go wrong with Meier.

Nice to hear the feedback on the trade.

Surprised tbh that so many are thinking keeping Malkin here. I was leaning Mack, Karlsson, Vas, Benn, Meier should the trade go through. I see that Malkin had a better season than I realized. Hmmmm.

    you shouldn't be

    Vas > Freddy

Malkin is a pt/gm + player annually. Seguin 75-85, shot machine. Both are likely to miss time. EM has 100pt ability still. In a K-5, you're never tied to any one player for long, you're always likely to have a good replacement in the wings if necessary.

    next season, give me Malkin

I do that deal 10 times out of 10. I then keep Malkin and Buff
I'm a little stunned how little love Buff is getting in this thread in Roto with PIMs BUff is a Beast. Malkin has surprisingly good PIM totals as well. Finally, Malkin in head-to-head is a disaster in roto he is rather valuable.

Malkin is a PPG+ player but the problem is I don't trust him to play more than 70 games a year. Keep an IR spot warmed up for him especially around fantasy playoff time.
