    lol. The Storm... underdogs again.

    Excellant!

Tell me, if Ottawa was there, how does that change things if at all?

I’ll take my Storm to complete the Cinderella Story.

I was at yesterdays game between Rouyn Noranda and Guelph. I went mainly to watch Nick Suzuki since I've had him in a fantasy league since his draft. My thoughts going into the game were much like the night before with Prince Albert, I figured the nerves would get to Guelph and the familiarity of playing in Halifax would help the Huskies feel at home. And for the first 10min of the game it seemed as that was the case as Guelph had numerous turnovers and looked sloppy. Rouyn Noranda scored a weak goal from the top of the circle on their 2nd shot of the game. Later with the Huskies on the pp Noah Dobson stole the puck and circled to the front of the net where he was hammered and lost the puck in the slot to Alexei Toropchenko who burried the shg to get Guelph on the board 1-1. I feel as this was the turning point of the game. Toropchenko completed the natural hat trick in the 1st period. Guelph controled the game the rest of the way to a 5-2 victory.

I thought the Huskies were too worried about trying to get under Suzuki's skin that they let the game get away from them. Numerous times the Guelph forwards slipped behind the Huskies Dmen for partial breakaways odd man chances. Noah Dobson didn't have a good game as he was a non factor in the offensive zone and seemed frustrated in the defensive zone. Suzuki had a nice give and go for a tap in goal and had a few rushes where he weaved to the net for chances but for the most part he played a simple but smart game, looking really responsible at both ends of the rink. Guelph's captain Issac Ratcliffe looked good and had a few grade A chances. Toropchenko had a great game potting a hatty, the puck seemed to follow him around all night as he was always at the right spot though I think he'll need to improve his skating for higher levels. For the Huskies one of the only players that stood out positively to me was their goalie Samuel Harvey as most of the goals that he did allow he had little to no help.

Side note: former NHLer and current co-owner of the Guelph Storm Scott Walker sat right in front of me. I had a brief conversation with him so that was cool. He was later joined by an older man that wore a canucks jacket (scout I assume) and another guy that kind've looked like Ryan Clowe. Also walked by Habs assistant gm Trevor Timmins during an intermission. Those were the few notable people I saw.

So is Halifax guaranteed the bye to the Finals regardless of tonight's outcome? If they lose to the Huskies, then they finish 2-1 same as the Storm.

In the event that two teams shall tie for a playoff position, other than the final playoff spot, the game between the two teams in the round robin shall determine the higher ranked team.
Makes me even more pissed that my ride to the game fell through (too far to taxi especially trying to find wheelchair access in rural NS). I've got tickets to the semis on Friday so that should be a good game between the Storm and the Huskies at least.

RN would finish 2-1 as well. Not sure of the three way tiebreak rule.

Wow, how did I miss that? Must be the meds

In the event three teams should tie for first place at the conclusion of the single round robin series of games, the game each team played against the fourth place team shall be removed from their records. The tie breaking formula shall be as follows: Add each team’s goals for with their goals against which sum you divide into such team’s goals for. The team with the highest percentage gains the higher ranking in the standings and an automatic berth as home team in the Memorial Cup Championship game. The remaining two teams shall play in the semi-final game. The home team in the semi-final game will be the team that won the round robin game between the two teams.
Given that each team beat the Raiders, it comes down to the goal percentage. A blowout for the Huskies could make things pretty interesting standings wise.

Storm vs Huskies in the semis with the winner taking on the Mooseheads in the final. Who ya got?

I'm saying Huskies vs Moose on Sunday with the Mooseheads getting redemption for the Presidents Cup loss.

Side note: last night was a very exciting game for 2 periods but man did it get boring in the third when the Mooseheads just started playing not to lose. Can't blame them given what was on the line. (As long as they didn't lose by more than a goal they got the bye) but damn that really sucked the life out of the game. Just absolutely brutal to watch.

Great game last night, tons of back and forth action. Dobson is a beast. Suzuki was a standout for Guelph, no surprise there.

The crowd was way more into (including myself) than I thought they'd be. Loved the Go Moose Go chant late in the third to remind the Huskies where they were playing. Should be an awesome rematch in the final game tomorrow night.
