I'll quote my earlier comment from the series thread before my celebratory G&T had a chance to take effect:
Okay, so the McAvoy hit could have justified a major for sure. I don't think it's as clearcut as some are making it out. He wasn't out looking to hit Anderson in the head. it wasn't targeted. It was incidental contact. In today's NHL however, that's a major. Is it the difference in this game? Maybe... McAvoy has been a game changer this series for sure. Hardly as controvesial as the major called on Vegas though.
Regardless, it's a borderline call in an elimination game against a polarizing team. It's going to get some major attention and how you feel about the play is going to be influenced greatly by your opinion of the team that committed the penalty.
Without me, it's only "aweso".

It's easy to bash the refs, but they don't get the benefit of 20 replays and then listening to all the commentary.
Assuming he has no history, I think he'll get 2 games.
And like everyone on CBC is saying, CBJ didn't deserve to win this game regardless of that call; I agree with that.

Yeah I agree as well. It’s not a no-goalie pickup game where you get credit for hitting a post or cross-bar. Their passing was crap most of the night. And 4T2 watch it again. He leaves his feet before the hit. DOPS does have the luxury or multiple super slow mo looks and I’ll be completely flummoxed if he doesn’t get at least 2 games.

He deserves 1 game. But if you look at the Kucherov - Vatanen hit from Round 1 last year, it’s eerily similar, and Kuch got away without a suspension.

1 game. Anderson came back to play, so no apparent injury (concussions are a funny thing though). NHL likely can't let a hit like that go without punishment...and yet, it is the NHL.

None. Why? Because the Jackets were eliminated so the issue is no longer. If the jackets won, then he would get a game, to keep things calm.
Another reason? Because "that's how the Bruins play so its ok". I will forever hate that team.

They’re not, so it should be 1.
It’s the playoffs and Anderson came back to play, so it will be 0.
