    Default Rasmus Sandin

Curious on why Rasmus Sandin doesn't get more hype. Through 44 games & 4 playoff games this season he has 34 points (0.71 PPG). He is younger than Brannstrom, but Sandin's AHL numbers are even better. Erik Brannstrom has 32 points in 50 games (0.64 PPG). Both players are obviously talented, but I am just curious why Brannstrom gets a ton of hype & Sandin is still somewhat unknown?

Well... to start the year he was seen as behind Liljigren on the Leafs depth charts... as well as Borgstrom & Rosen.
He's bypassed Lilj. and is closing on Rosen (Rosen still ahead due to age and belief he can step in immediately next year in a prominent role|).
Sandin has been described similar to Juolevi, that cerebral do it all, not flashy Dman.
Brannstrom is flashier, more game breaker skills. I think you're right, he should be talked about more.
And you'll find as we move into next season & spots on the Leafs blue line open up - the hype will increase as well.
As for now, lack of hype makes him cheaper to acquire than Brannstrom.

Most scouts don't think he has the skill to be a top pairing dman, which leaves him at best as a 2nd pairing 2nd powerplay guy on the leafs. In fantasy, people seem to go for the homerun, 2nd pairing/2nd pp dman arent all that hard to find in most league formats.

He's playing like 27min/night right now I think. The Marlies see him as a No1 D-man and are breeding him as one.

But D-men are weird. It's tough to say who ends up as the better one.

Sandin looks like a top 4 defender in the NHL for sure. Stared him down on the FA list for way too long and he got scooped up by another GM late in the year.

He will, and should, get a long look in camp. Cheap, good and young needed to replace Hainsey, Gardiner and Dermott.

he was a smart pick by Dubas but who knows where he'll peak at offensively . I see him as a jack of all trades kind of D who might find a crack in the door on the PP and click but if he doesnt its no biggie since he'll be solid elsewhere .

Seeing the name "Sandin" on the back of a Leafs jersey will be eerily familiar lol

Update: I had an offer out there that was just accepted. My Sandin + 2nd rounder (20th pick in entry level draft) for Brannstrom. Based on this thread it seems like Brannstrom is the safer offensive Dman. Appreciate your guys input!
