    Default Who would you draft?

    Hi everyone,

I'm in a 31 team Dyansty sim league that replicates the NHL. I was knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, so I'll be drafting between 25-27th. Based on my team, what kind of Prospect would you be eyeing? Or would you just select the best available?

Is this is the 2019 draft class plus the prospects you listed above? Or am I misunderstanding?

Ah, sorry, the prospects listed are on my squad. I made the quick edit now of naming it "My Prospects". We will be drafting the 2019 class

Gotcha. Are you drafting now, or closer to/after the actual NHL draft?

Best player available is usually the way to go, and forwards are generally impactful before defensemen (especially outside of the top 2-3 Dmen that will go in the top 15 of any given draft). However, there are some solid Dmen that look to be slotting in around the back end of the first, and that's probably what your team needs the most.

I would look at BPA... but there's a chance that someone like Harley slides into your range. I'd have no problem taking a falling Dman there. But in fantasy, you're always better taking the best fantasy option on the board.

This is a sim league, so it's going top be so heavily dependent on ratings, I'm not sure I can give a solid answer.

I'd figure out what your neediest positions are, aim for shoring those up.
10 team Head-to-head true dynasty. Roster 33, draft 2, cut down before season. Start 1 G, 1-2 backup G's, 6 D, 12 F arranged in 4 lines of 3. Only categories that matter are Goals, Assists, Save% with a shutout bonus. Having NHL teammates helps.

    G: F Andersen
    Backup G: Holtby
D: Hainsey, M Reilly, Carlson, Gustafsson, Klingberg, Letang,
    F1: Couturier, Giroux, MacKinnon
    F2: Schiefele, Wheeler, Guentzel
    F3: Benn, Seguin, Pavelski,
    F4: Point, Stamkos, Tavares

    Bench:
    G: Bobrovsky
    D: Gardiner, Gostisbehere, Schultz, Werenski
F: Bailey, Johnsson, Killorn, Labanc, JT Miller, Necas, Tuch, Voracek

    Reserve: Datsyuk

I would be looking to move the pick for someone who can help you next season. I would go for someone young enough to be on your team for a while yet old enough that he is an established NHLer with room to grow. I would think someone like Sean Kuraly would be a good target. Who knows how long this type of league will last so there's no point in drafting someone who won't help your team for another 4 or so seasons.

    Thanks for the reply.

D is definitely an issue on this team! I'll compile a list in the offseason.

Fair point. Perhaps I could package an agin player with a pick for someone up and coming with experience under their belt
