It should be a pretty quick jump in points for him because he has PP1 talent among NJ forwards right away.
And when Ty Smith emerges with that group, it'll be a pretty solid unit.

Even-strength, NJ isn't deep... I'd almost expect to get 2nd line wing time with a veteran - Travis Zajac.
Hughes (LH) will take some draws on the left-side of the ice... or the draws when Zajac (RH) gets thrown out.
But I do think we'll see a lot of Zajac/Hughes so that a veteran can bring him along / talk to him on the bench throughout the game.

He's too talented for 3rd line minutes... but I'd also not put C2 pressure on him - hasn't worked well for Nolan Patrick's progression.
A lot of very talented forwards (including Nathan MacKinnon & Dylan Larkin) really struggled with two-way center responsibilities in their 1st & 2nd years.
Even Sid started out his career on the wing.

1 month later, now that all the draft, free agent signing and all the big hype has settled, do you guys see Jack Hughes as a constant 100 pts player?
He says he compares himself to barzal, but barzal will only be in the 70-80 pts if all goes well with NYI..

Do you actually see him as:

Patrick Kane, McDavid tier? 100 pts?

    Matthews, Eichel tier? 85-95 pts?

Barzal, Seguin and the rest tier? (70-85 pts)?

I'd put him in a tier with Kane but McDavid in his own tier. In my opinion. I could see him being a 100 point player but maybe not consistently year after year. 90 points seems very realistic to me, though. I'd say in two years, three tops.
Points only keeper. 12 Teams. No pos requirements. 18 skaters / 3 goalies (2 count for points.) G/A = 1 point each (includes goalies) Goalies = 1.5 for W / 4.5 for SO. Minors - 4 year protection. Prospects added during their draft year only. Undrafted = waivers.

Dobber has Hughes pegged for 72 points, which I think is reasonable. And a 3YP of 90'ish, which I could see down the road...

Agreed. I drafted him #1 this year and I'll be disappointed with anything less than pt/game when he hits his peak. I expect 90+ in his best seasons.

I hate asking about what's in the guide, but I'm too poor to afford basically any "discretionary" spending at this point, so is Hughes projected as a center in the guide?

I'm still thinking he lines up as a LW with Zajac-Gusev or something like that, but who knows?

Projected as 2C between Bratt and Gusev. (Hall-Hischier-Palm).

Hmm ... I was kinda figuring Bratt would be bumped down to LW3 in favor of Zajac playing center there. Either way, Hughes/Gusev seems like it would be an incredibly interesting playmaking tandem. They have so many options right now with their top nine forwards and PP1/PP2 units, the Devils really are one of the hardest teams to predict.

I read a scout a while ago say he was probably somewhere between Keller and Kane as a prospect, but they really weren't sure where he would end up eventually.

I get the sense it's more like Barzal floor - Kane ceiling. He's going to be a dynamic player in transition no matter what, and I think his points floor is probably higher than Keller.
