Hackenberg in the second round by the Jets a few years back was a much worse reach than D. Jones at 6 was. NY media hyperbole. Jones was a terrible pick but not an atrocity like Hackenberg's was.

I don't like that Arizona took Murray at the 1 slot over the defensive talent and before they had traded Rosen.

Just doesn't make sense to me.

As a Niners fan, I was more than happy to watch Arizona take a QB 1st overall and allow Bosa to land in our laps.

Now to find a quality WR early in the 2nd round.

If they couldn't find a decent market for Rosen at this stage they can wait it out until training camp when an injury can occur and teams could be more desperate. Think back to the Eagles signing Bradford, then trading up for Wentz, only to end up getting a 1st out of the Vikings for Bradford when Teddy Bridgewater got hurt. The only thing that matters is that Murray is an upgrade at the most important position. No clue if he is or not, but if they believe that's the case then they made the correct pick.

What changes have they made in the front office/coaches room that should warrant them giving up the draft capital on another top 10 QB? I think they invested significant draft capital into Rosen that they should not have wasted the #1 overall pick on another QB so quickly.

I have seen some great throws from Rosen when his O-line gave him time last year... which if I recall was not very much. Is Murray going to be any better behind that O-line?

I honestly think the Cardinals are going to look back at this draft in a couple years and think... Man we should have took Bosa.

Could this be a case of teams being biased towards the current draft class that they're spending so many resources to evaluate? We see that a lot in fantasy hockey, and I guess it also happens in pro sports.

Pretty common knowledge any NFL QB can be good if the OL and coach/system is great.

Rosen and Carr are not the reason for their teams records. But they may be the reason they aren't in the superbowl.

.....They've literally changed the entire coaching staff.....

You don't pass on Andrew Luck because you drafted Jake Locker the year before.

I read earlier that Miami was a possible landing spot for Rosen.

I don't get these teams that waste a high pick on a guy if they arent sold on him. That's clearly what happened with Arizona and Rosen.

Arz. replaced their coaching staff. It was the previous staff that liked Rosen. The new one.. not so much

It's still seems like a waste.

From everything I have seen... Murray is no Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck was the prized pick for the whole season. Murray came out of nowhere to be the top pick.

And he is a 5.10 quarterback. How many 5.10 quarterbacks are successful in the NFL? I think there is a lot of risk in that.

And the fact that the whole coaching staff changed to a new system that needs a new quarterback... that maybe should be considered pour management above the coaching staff level.

These moves appear to me like management was searching a little too hard for the next McVay.... and then then the coaching staff searching a little too hard for the next Russell Wilson.

I think so. When there was legit talent in Bosa available.

I'd be happy if they somehow get a WR that helps Hawkins because their WR are dismal.
Extremely solid day 1. I don't think the skins have another pick till the 3rd now though, so cross your fingers that the WR trend doesnt start till then. Still some great talent available though.

It doesn't matter if you think he is or if you think he can be successful at 5'10. It matters if they think he is. And if they think he is, it doesn't matter that they took Rosen last year.

They're not looking for the next Russell Wilson, they're looking for their 15 year starting franchise QB. If they think he is that, then what they did last year is irrelevant.

Watch the Pats trade for Rosen to become Brady's heir now... could Rosen become the GOAT 2.0?
    Without me, it's only "aweso".
