Hard to see a bright future for Montreal/Ottawa/Buffalo these days with competition that stacked.

As a Habs fan, I don't know about that. They just missed the playoffs with 96 points (better than Vegas, Dallas and Colorado) and have one of the youngest teams in the league. I like this team to compete going forward. But yeah, the Atlantic might get rough.

I was going to suggest that you head over to the Montreal thread and check out ericdaosts post but I see you already did and responded to it quite nicely... so props to you there. But I agree with Mr Daost that they over-achieved this year and that the fact that they have a couple of good prospects does not make this team a contender. Especially in a division as tough as the Atlantic is looking. And especially not with Bergevin as the GM.

I agree with you. I wouldn't lump Montreal in with Buffalo & (especially) Ottawa. they were close to the playoffs this year. Maybe they slide back a bit, but they are ahead of where Detroit is starting from, and have the goalie the others seem to be lacking.
