Default Trade away McDavid for Kane, Stamkos, Point

I've been offered any 3 of them OR Petersson, Karlsson, Burns - I just assume they're the top 3.

This guy has Vasilevski and won't move him, says he's worth more than McDavid etc.

It's a king's ransom, but he's still set to dominate our league. Goaltending (W,SV%,SO) count for 3/9 roto stats.

    Gibson is killing me.

I'd have to trade away Benn & Malkin.

Would you do this trade no matter what?

    What goalies would you target?

(I'd offer up all of Benn, Malkin and Gibson for an upgrade in net)

I haven't been paying attention to hockey this year, look forward to your opinions!

You can only keep 5, so the quantity approach here isnt all its cracked up to be.
Trading Benn and Malkin is a good idea. Malkin is an injury festival, not sure what Benn's deal is but a decline occured. You wold be selling low on him though.
That being said, McDavid is overrated as long as he is a Soiler. He will never become the top fantasy player in the league as long as he remains with that organization. In my league, his teammate, Draisiatl out-produces him, along with Kucherov and a handful of others.
If you really want to move him, there's a lot of work to do to maximize your return and set yourself up. If I could get Pettersson, Point and a 3rd elite asset for the guy I would be pretty satisfied. Or you could go Burns if you are win-now mode, EK also works. I would try to squeeze out a pick or whatever else I could from the OGM as well. Then you put your trading pants on and move your excess assets for upgrades. MacK, Point, Pettersson are your 3 keepers. Then you trade your ass off and bring in two more really good ones, preferably one is a G.

McDavid, Malkin, Benn for Kane, Stamkos, Point? I'll pass. In a keep 5 you need more than that, especially when your 4-5 keeper slots are very solid players.

In a keep 5, I'm not trading McDavid, period.

Definitely DON'T do this trade in a keep 5 during the off season. I'd consider it if he offers this at the very start of the season and you could just drop a couple scrubs.

I offered someone Huberdeau, Tarasenko and Seguin a couple months ago and it was turned down, when it arguably may have won him this year's championship.

Yea, that's a pass for me as well considering it's a keep 5.

I'd pass on that at this moment. That's an in-season deal, not an off-season deal.

Your issue is that you have some guys who underperformed and a keeper goalie in league where keeping a non-elite fantasy goalie doesn't help much.

Gibson is a really, really good goalie. But, 2 of your stats are team based, and one of those is fairly random. So unless you are keeping a good or better save percentage goalie (Gibson-check) on a good or better team (Anaheim - no check), it won't help. Anaheim may get back there, but who knows when - they are old and coaching is uncertain.

Don’t trade away McDavid, especially in a keep 5. I’m fine with shopping Benn and Malkin for an upgrade in net If you really want to keep a goalie.

As all others have basically said - in a keep 5, don't be the GM that traded away McD.

Short answer is you're fine, even with the down years on Benn and ANA. In a 20-team, I'm still feeling good about my chances next year.

Obviously if you can find another GM who's keen on Benn for a premium return, then you explore, but my 2c is to not fret about this year's stats too much and enjoy a McD/Mack/Malkin/Gibby core in a keep 5.

Simplest answer is you keep mcdavid in a keep 5. The only way you consider moving him is at the beginning of a season or near the deadline where the trade all but guarantees you the win. Even then, it's a tough decision.

The worst time to move mcdavid in a limited keeper is at the end of a season, in my opinion. I'm holding him almost always in a keep 5.

    Thanks for all the input!

I get what you mean about trading him mid-season, if anything.

But what about IF I can land Vasilevski?

At this point I'd love to do McDavid + Gibson for Vas + 1 or 2 keepers

It depends on the other two keepers you're getting. If they're both top 20 guys, then I consider it. If not, I'll pass even without knowing the names.
