Vegas in 7
The Knights are finally all healthy and the Sharks aren't firing on all cylinders. There is a lot going on behind the scenes in San Jose.
I doubted them every step of the way last year so I owe them one. Vegas in 6.

Damn two of my favorite teams meet in the first round.
I have no idea who to pick. You have to like the emergence of Meier on SJ and the dimensions that Kane brings. On the other hand, I don't trust Thornton or Karlsson to hold up health-wise and I don't believe in Nyquist as a playoff-style performer.
Meanwhile Vegas doesn't have the same X-factor they did last year, but they've seemed to be ramping it up as of late and the Stone addition has looked seamless.

How so? Is Karlsson's wife actually the crazy one, in a twist nobody saw coming? Is it the E Kane factor wearing thin? I haven't heard any rumors.

Knights pull this off in 6. They’ve just been too good since the deadline and goaltending will be the Sharks downfall. I know this is a super controversial take
All the teams I thought would win round 1 lost last night. Good start HR

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the penalty call on the Sharks that resulted in the go ahead call being called back and Vegas scoring the game winner on the assuming power play? I spent the night in hospital and have only been able to watch it a couple times. Can’t have volume on TV as it will wake up the kiddo. So I haven’t heard what they have said

Only saw the highlights as well. I thought it was obvious that Couture made contact with Fleury's head just prior the puck going in so I'm fine with the no-goal call. But that was incidental contact and not goaltender interference. Shouldn't have been a penalty on Couture. Momentum swing for sure.
That being said, the Sharks had eight powerplays in this game and only scored once while allowing two shorties. Tough feeling sorry for them there.
Any news on Gusev?
Vegas is already looking scary good... imagine with that guy on a third line with Eakin and Tuch.
Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
Gusev is practicing with the team, so he has his visa sorted out. No indication when or if he will play any time soon.
I think the whole Gusev news is actually mainly a PR stunt or a mindgame. They will let him practice and practice and practice and as long as they are winning and up in series he will never play. This news came to fruition when Vegas was down in the series. I don't think they will risk inserting him into the lineup unless they have their backs against the wall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may be right but if they piss him off he can always go back to SKA for a season and then come back a UFA with a chip on his shoulder.
Yesterday:
When Gusev signed with Vegas, he said General Manager George McPhee said that getting in a game was not guaranteed but the allure of being in the NHL alone was enough to join the Golden Knights.
"There never was a guarantee of playing, it's just about the team," said Gusev. "If the coaches and team need me, I will be ready and do the best that I can. Right now, I want to play in the best league in the world."
