Ah, Bettman's wet dream...parity...parody, whatever. In honour of this, I'm going to change the way I pick my playoff series. From now on, it's a simple coin flip, heads for the higher ranked team, tails for the lower seed. Then I'll put 4 slips of paper in a hat and pick the number of games out of said hat. I bet I get just as many right as the "experts".

Why is it a dumb rule? How else do you prevent people from just throwing it over the glass to get a whistle when they're in trouble?

Glad to see the old NHL Post-It Note Playoff Rule Book is alive and well. Why would the refs want to make a call when the games are so important? Wouldn't want to affect the outcome of a game with a call, other than the puck over glass automatic penalty or when a player is seriously fouled (and maybe showing a little blood or bone breakage). Love the playoffs.

You must have a short memory. The game sucks when players can take shortcuts to get whistles anytime things are getting interesting. Do you actually think they should be allowed to fire it over the glass? Or maybe we just need way taller glass or something? What are you proposing?

YEAH called it! Hopefully Canes get a bit more respect these days. Not that they entirely deserve it, but a damn good team nonetheless (at times, when they feel like it)

The solution is easy. Make it a judgment call for the ref wether it was intentional or not. 95 percent of these are unintentional (because players know it's a penalty). Both instances yesterday were obviously unintentional and yet the series could've been decided because of it.

It's moot now obviously but it remains a dumb rule.
