Trade Away Scheifele + to get Marner or Gaudreau? REP Given!

For the team in my sig, I'm trying to diversify my keepers, especially since I'm likely drafting Jack Hughes (C) as a future keeper and don't want to end up with too many center keepers (I'm already probably dropping or trading away Seguin this coming off-season), and centers are easier to redraft.

Right now I'm in talks to trade away Scheifele and an as-of-yet undecided sweetener to get either Marner or Gaudreau. I want to check with you guys to see:

1) Am I being too focused on trying to diversify keeper positions
2) Which of these two guys should I target?

The sweetener would likely end up being a second or third going his way, and a ninth or tenth coming back. Worth it?

In a points only pool... Both have higher offensive ceilings than Scheifele. Even if you were getting a C in return, I would like it for you. With your plethora of picks - 5 in the 1st two rounds & 3 more 3rds. I'd have no qualms about giving one of them (2nd/3rd) for the bump. I'd push for Marner, but I may be biased since JG is closing in on a century.

Worth looking into for sure, and maybe a tiny plus on top of Scheifele for either just because of the positional eligibility. However, I don't like it at the price you're currently saying you would be paying.

If you are dropping a guy like Seguin just because of a league-wide overabundance of players in the C position, then trading Scheifele for a winger of Marner or Gaudreau's caliber sounds like a great move for you.

You are also in a pretty good position to upgrade Krug as well (as much as I really like him). Trading Seguin and Krug could land you one of the top tier blueliners to pair with Karlsson. If you are going to keep 2 dmen, this is an avenue I would explore and will go along way to making you the champ 4 years in a row.

Gustafsson... but you could probably get someone like Rielly & then Gus a couple rounds later. I doubt most GM's believe this season is close to real.

Yes Morgan Reilly is good enough. I would make this trade for Brent Burns, Morgan Reilly, John Carlson, Hedman and maybe even Letang. But Burns and Reilly would be my targets.

Question to folks - what makes you guys think Rielly is much better than Krug? Just based on points history and position and all that, I don't see much of a difference. That being said, I'm a Leafs fan so maybe that's enough, haha.

I'm not sure Rielly is "much" better than Krug for point production but he is better in my opinion. He is also younger by 3 years and has younger elite teammates around him for years to come to produce those cheaper but oh so important 2nd assists and PPP. I am absolutely in love with Krug, I think he is one of the most underrated point producing dmen in the NHL. However, his elite teammates are getting old (besides Pastrnak) and McAvoy will push Krug for some PP minutes eventually and I don't see the Leafs having anyone to push Rielly out of PP minutes.

So this upgrade of Rielly may not be much but it is an upgrade in my opinion and why not upgrade a keeper with that keeper (Krug) and a high end drop (Seguin). However, Burns would by my first target, then Rielly.

Also, being a Leaf fan may make it slightly more interesting for you (especially if he has a down year, hahaha).
