    Default Gio a sell high?

In a points only salary cap league, considering all the potential star D men in Calgary, should I shop him around for, let's say, a Gost/Barrie/Krug type D?

This season is great, but he's aging and still costs 6,75m

    Thoughts?

He's definitely a sell-high, but I doubt you will get anywhere near fair value for him because of his age and contract.

If you really wanted decent value for him it was during the season when another GM could have used him to his benefit. Now that the season is done, you wont get near as much in return.

Yeah, he was very useful in my soon-to-be victory, so I couldn't sell him especially with the loss of Karlsson

In a points only league, keep 4, i have marchand, marner, scheifele as keepers. Would you guys keep giordano with a 10th round pick? Or EK with a 2nd?

You need to offer the full picture. Surely there are other options other than just Gio or Karlsson as well.

That's an interesting question. I'm in a keep 4 (no picks like yours, though) and Giordano has been my best d-man all year. I also own Doughty, Hamilton, OEL, and Ghost, who are all younger. I have a hard time thinking Gio will duplicate this season's totals considering that they practically doubled my projections, but that Calgary offense has been potent this season.

OP: Sell high time was two months ago, especially in a salary cap league. But, as you said, you go the win, so there is no reason to worry about how things will play out. Considering you just won, then you should have a pretty strong team and Gio could be valuable once again. Since it's a cap league, I can see why you would want to start looking at moving him.

Perhaps someone like Ryan Pulock is a target? Only costs 2 million next season, you can play up the fact that he won't produce as well as Gio next year, and will then be an RFA, so that he'll get paid next summer, likely in the 6 million range. That could get an owner to bite, and at 2 million, Pulock is a phenomenal bargain for next season (especially if they will wake up and boot Leddy from PP1, once and for all).

That's great insight. I had also thought of that option since the guy who owns Pulock isn't very fond of him

You would definitely have to add something to Giordano in order to land a Barrie, Krug or even Gostisbehere. Depending what that add is, I’d do it if the opposing GM’s are up for it, but unlikely.

If you can swap Giordano for Pulock straight up, that is also a move I would happily make.
