Default Tough one on prospect defenceman

    Hi everyone,
in a keeper league, points only, with 7 fowards and 3 defenceman counting.

I took an expansion team, so I full it with young players. I need to know who to keep. Don't forget I won't be competitive soon. I want the best fantasy player and I don't mind waiting a few years.

    Please rank them in order:

    Girard
    Jokiharju
    Liljgren
    Valimaki.

    Thanks

I like Girard out of this group. At 20 he already has two years of NHL experience (that matters) and he's already doing decent offensively. He's not really sacrificing in upside over the others you listed.

I agree with Eric that Girard makes sense right now. All of them have their own hurdles to overcome to become a stud Dman, mainly opportunity. I don't think any of them are true studs, long term but all will be excellent NHL Dmen.

    I'd probably rank them:

    Girard
    Valimaki
    Jokiharju
    Liljegren
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

What does the rest of the team look like? Is there perhaps a way to keep multiple prospect D while dropping/trading others? I was just thinking, maybe you're not really limited to picking just one...

    First thanks for the answer!

No I'm not limited to one. I want to know how many are valuable and have a chance to be one day in a group of the 30 best dmen in fantasy not nhl value.

This will help me to know who I keep and who I drop/trade.

Could you rank them please and tell me who could be in the 30 best dmen.

    Thanks

Your question is too specific when prospect development has so much gray area. All four *could* end up there and all four can peak as nothing more than depth scorers. If you're relying on these prospects to achieve a level that high you'll likely end up disappointed. None of these guys are anywhere near the Chabot/Dahlin level of prospect.

    Ranking:
    Girard
    Jokiharju
    Valimaki
    Liljgren

More info would help point you in the right direction.

It's a two-fold answer really... in terms of upside I agree with the rankings given

    Girard
    Joki
    Vali
    Lilj

but value - well, that's where Liljegren moves up this list. He's a Leafs prospect, who in his draft year was expected to go top 5. There are owners who still believe he's going to be dynamite... I moved him for Morgan Frost 1-1 earlier this year.

in terms of pure trade value:

    Girard
    Liljegren - Jokiharju
    Valimaki
