Default Drop 5. 24 player roster. Pts only

Just looking at my keeper team and wondering who would I drop. I know Dustin Brown and Henri Jokiharju are the only ones that stick out to me .... but what about the final 3?

    14 team league
    24 player roster
    top 12 forwards
    top 4 defence
    top 1 goalie

    Evgeny Kuznetsov (WAS) (F)
    William Karlsson (VGK) (F)
    Kasperi Kapanen (TOR) (F)
    Tom Wilson (WAS) (F)
    Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG) (F)
    Rickard Rakell (ANA) (F)
    Jordan Eberle (NYI) (F)
    William Nylander (TOR) (F)
    Casey Mittelsdadt (BUF) (F)
    Troy Terry (ANA) (F)
    Drake Batherson (OTT) (F)
    Max Comtois (ANA) (F)
    Martin Necas (CAR) (F)
    Kristian Vesalainen (WPG) (F)
    Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) (F)
    Oliver Wahlstrom (NYI) (F)
    Aleksi Heponiemi (FLA) (F)
    Dustin Brown (LA) (F)

    Alex Pietrangelo (STL) (D)
    Dougie Hamilton (CAR) (D)
    Adam Fox (CGY) (D)
    Evan Bouchard (EDM) (D)
    Henri Jokiharju (CHI) (D)

    Braden Holtby (WAS) (G)

My team is a lock for a top 2 pick so I am excited. I had no chance at making the money this season so I went in complete re-build mode here. I'm thinking maybe tank for another season and get a top 3 pick again then make a push for the money. I don't know, just throwing out an idea. Was possibly thinking something a little off the board like, Brown - Jokiharju, Eberle, Wahlstrom, Pietrangelo which would help me re-build for one more season to build a powerhouse of young talent around the same age.

Can you move guys for picks? AP has to be valuable to someone.

I disagree with all three of these. Kaprizov has one of the highest upsides, and he may be over for your money push year. Comtois is solid and will be in the NHL next year. His value is going to skyrocket.
Wilson has 60 point potential, as long as he's not suspended.

I would dump Brown, Whalstrom, Eberle, Jokiharju, and probably either Fox or Vesalainen as I think they're both still a ways away from making an impact.

Hear what you're saying, I've just never bought in to Comtois putting up big points in the NHL.
I'm also not convinced we'll see Kaprizov come anytime soon but I can get on board with you on Wilson.

    These are my 5.
    Notes:

    1. In a 12F/4D league, you are going to win this with elite forwards. I like Adam Fox... and he's a keeper in a 12F/6D... but not in 12F/4D. Take the amount of teams (14) in your league, the multiply that number by forwards counted (12) and by defenseman counted (4). Then go to a completed year of NHL stats (2017-18) and find the point total at that mark. Last year's F168 scored 36pts. Last year's D56 scored 31pts. Those are key numbers to ALWAYS remember. Whenever you are considering VALUE of a player, you want to just do relative difference (subtraction) between the player's UPSIDE and that waiver-wire point total.
    Fox may become a 50pt D-man, so that's +19.
But you only need 55pt+ out of your forwards to also have +19.
    50pt D vs. 55pt F. That's your key comparison.

If your keeper D count was 6D, then you'd count to 84D, which is 23pts.
Here, Fox (as a 50pt guy) would be a +27.
    Now the comparison is:
    50pt D (+27) vs. 63pt F (+27)...
And Fox may be more likely than some of your keepers.

    2. Using this theory, just assign possible future point-values to all your guys.
For forwards, subtract the 36pt "fringe" value of NHL F168.
For defense, subtract the 31pt "fringe" value of NHL D56.

    That's how to choose.
    Easy peezy.

re: Dustin Brown. 44pts in 63gp is still 57pt pace.
I think you could get something from the Kopitar owner for him... since the Kopitar owner would be aware Brown is still solid.
Brown is NOT in your long-term rebuild plans... but an asset is an asset.

(I like Heponiemi/Fox more... but I don't think the word is out on them, fully, yet - other than these forums. I think he is redraftable... and I think it'll take him a few years to crack the FLA top six.)

No we cannot move picks. I should just try and trade him I think. I know he doesn't fit with the mould of this team but dropping him is probably just wasted value going down the drain.

Thank you for your input. I love Kaprizov and have kept him for over a year already lol. I'll keep him for sure.

Wow thanks for your lengthy reply. I never thought of it this way. Appreciate everyone's input.
