Well, it doesn't take a lot of effort to speculate on this one.
First of all... points, hits, and blocks... these are stats that we (as a fantasy hockey community) associate as "good hockey".
But all a coach/team cares about is +/-.
Is a team scoring more than their opponents when JohnnyX is on the ice?
Or... to avoid goalie contributions... is a team creating more scoring opportunities (shots, high quality chances) than their opponents when JohnnyX is on the ice?
Arizona has a REAL shot at playoffs.
But
Chychrun was -2 in a 4-2 win against the Kings on March 9th. (i.e. He was on for BOTH goals against)
Then
Chychrun was -3 in a 7-1 clubbing by the Hawks on March 11th.
You can watch those highlights and (if your hockey sense is good enough) reason why the coach swapped Chychrun out of the line-up...
Arizona has Demers back (& healthy) and reslotted Lyubushkin into the line-up.
Their last two without Chychrun:
3-1 win vs STL, then a 6-1 win last night vs ANA...
Do you think they are going to mess with a good thing?
There's a saying about what to do if "it ain't broke".
For funsies, here's the Engineering Flow Chart:
(for the Coyotes right now, it would follow the path "Q: Is it moving and it should?", "A: Yes.")
