Deadline Day Trade Help. (Rep where I can!)

It's deadline day and there's a trade afoot. It's my first deadline day in this league so I'm panicking and need a little help/thoughts on this trade:

To me:
Casey DeSmith - $2,500,000 (2021)
Charlie Coyle - $4,000,000 (2021)
Libor Sulak (still potential but he's a cap dump coz of his huge $2,000,000 contract)

To them:
Grabner - $2,500,000 (2019)
2019 1st rounder

Our salary cap is $58 million and I'm currently $9million below it. We negotiate the contracts ourselves. I have 4 first rounders and this one will be late first: The team who owns lost in the final last year and is 3rd this year. The other picks are two top tens and probably a low 20. Grabner is an expiring contract.

Any thoughts help would be great. Rep where I can.

What do first rounders usually fetch in your league, what kind of moves are you looking to make, and does taking on cap dumps have value?

We don't drop anyone, so our draft is a 2 round draft where we pick just the draft eligible players that year; we recreate the NHL entry level draft essentially. And it follows the results pretty closely to be honest.

I'm in the first year of a rebuild. Took over in the summer, traded anyone of value for picks and prospects (hence the 4 firsts) and am now hoping to draft well this year, get rid of the few remnants next year and be competitive the year after. A 3-4 year rebuild basically.

As for cap dumps having value, I think they do, he refuses to see Sulak as a cap dump "because the Wings like him", but he admits the contract is high.

I like getting DeSmith, but I don't know if he's worth giving up a first rounder for. He's probably not a starter for a while, and we can't predict stuff after that.
Coyle likely doesn't have the upside you're looking for either.

I largely agree with you. Coyle is what he is right now and that's a 40-50 point guy, who $4mil seems steep for. Already have one like him in Stepan haha I was about to give up on the original deal (Grabner for Sulak and Coyle) before he threw in DeSmith for the first and then I was curious.

I don't want to get lose Grabner for nothing and this is my only offer, but I'm trying not to panic trade him either.
