Pomenville wants this back. Not quite Patrick Stefan bad, but in the same ball park?

Wow. He shot it and stopped it from going in the net in the same motion.

    That's crazy.
Make me appreciate how difficult it is to finish a one-timer at NHL-pass-level speed.

(He basically whiffed, but caught enough of the puck on the heel to give it some forward momentum.
His stick went forward - above the puck - at greater speed than puck.
And then he caught the puck's trajectory - on ice- on pulling his stick back to set-position.)
    Ha! Poor Pom.

And no.. not nearly Patrick Stefan level-bad!!!

That was a tough game for Buffalo. Both teams were in similar positions in their conferences (fighting for their lives) and they blew a 3-1 lead with 3 second period goals, one with five seconds left in the period, at home. Then to whiff on that automatic goal 99 percent of the time.

Agreed its not Stefan bad but you don't see either of those very often! On the positive side montour looked pretty good on that play.

Not even the worst miss in the game! (note there is no one between McDavid and the net and he is the fastest player in the NHL)

Buffalo came back up the ice and had a bit of a sustained charge after the miss.

I don't feel for him. He's made his millions. That whiff won't cost him a dime.

meh. some go in, some don't.

I’ve seen that exact thing happen where the flex on a stick whipped back and stopped a player’s own shot. In the nhl. There’s a video somewhere I’m sure but I can’t remember the player. Feels like it was a Nashville guy.

Younger? This happened so recently! Everyone should know this moment. What a goof... ah when Hemsky was good and not plagued by injuries...
