Hey,

Got the opportunity to trade for Tyson Jost, GM wants either my second rounder this year and next (I have two next year) but both will probably be between 30-40 mark, or a 1 first rounder this year (probably around 20th).

Two part question; is he worth a trade at all, and if so, the first rounders or the two seconds (I'm leaning two seconds but just want to confirm with others).

We negotiate our own contracts, so he's in the minors currently on an Entry Level Contract of $250,000, and it expires in 2021. Our salary cap is $58 million.

he hasn't produced with Col. was demoted before Xmas & is getting 12min/game - which is 3rd/4th line minutes. he's not showing the chops of being worth much more than that, not when the WW offers better options - see Cirelli/Joseph from just TB.

I would take either of those deals in a heartbeat. I would prefer to move 20th instead of two picks in the 30 - 40 range.

You won't get a player of Jost's potential at 20th overall this year.

Two very different answers here, and I’m honestly torn. I agree he hasn’t looked great for the Avs, but he’s still young and I’m rebuilding so don’t need him to be good right now.

Any more thoughts?

Colorado is so thin on FWDs I think he will get opportunity time and again to be one of their top 6 fwds going fwd. He's putting up slightly better numbers in the second half, just cause he's not breaking out yet doesn't mean hes a bust.

Maybe throw around your 1st and see what kinda bites you get before pulling the trigger but I'd do your first for Jost if you don't get anything better maybe ask for a late round pick back as well and see what he says

start with one 2nd, add the other 2nd or the First as you go if need be. i agree hes not a bust, but no need to overpay right now.

You could try to move your 1st if you say it's going to be 20th for 2 2nds and then you'll have seconds up the wazoo

Thanks for all the answers everyone, it's really appreciated. I'm going to message him about doing it for one 2nd rounder (our drafts are only 2 rounds deep, anyone drafted that or just automatically placed into our farm teams) and see where it goes. Trade deadline is coming, I'm well out of playoffs so maybe I'll move someone for a spare second and through that it too.

I'm intrigued, he's a former high pick and has tons of talent. Just concerned about his start for the Avs so far. I'd have ripped his arm off at the start of the year! haha

I've managed to get him to agree to take my lowest first rounder (this pick will be 25 to 30, it belongs to a real contender) and I'm pretty sure there won't be anyone around this pick with Jost's potential? Am I fair in saying that, or just plain crazy?
