I'm in a league that had this trade go through. I for one am still pretty pissed that garbage like this would not get vetoed as it ruins the league and smells of collusion.

We have an 80% veto system in place, which wasn't met to cancel this debacle.

No doubt. I love fantasy, but if this is the standard for what's to come down the line, then perhaps finding a new league is the best option.

Well there's no doubting this trade stinks, keep in mind that in a cap league, Kucherov's salary is about to jump big time so trading him doesn't surprise me. The return is underwhelming but I believe there's more to the story than just what you've posted. Just my $0.02.

As far as staying in the league or quitting, that's up to you. Far be it from me to tell you what to do there.

The discussion was, the 2 managers involved in the trade argued that this was a good trade...

-At the time of the trade, the team trading Kuch was only 2 wins out of a playoffs spot...
-Kuch was also his best player by a mile
-Cap isn't much of an issue here since we are changing the cap from AAV to Cap Hit which gives rookies a cheaper salary, and we are rasiing the cap to whatever the NHL raises it to.
-$9.5m for a 100 point is a good value, there's plenty of overpaid players on his team that he could have dropped or traded away

I'm by no means tell managers how to run their team, but I think this one is so bad that it kills the integrity of the league

If you're the Commish and the trade smells of collusion why aren't you doing something about it? Also, as the Commish, aren't you sort of responsible for the GMs in the league? Kind of weak IMO to start a league, fill it with crappy GMs and then bail on it because the GMs are crappy.

We have a system in place where a bad trade needs 80% of the league to veto. It's prevents me from being a dictator but also puts other managers in a position to make a right call. I'm not for vetoing, but sometimes a trade stinks to the point it needs to be done...

Every year this league dumps crumby managers and fills them again. It's an ongoing cycle that never seems to change. Every year it's the same type of person "I'm active, I love hockey" etc. Then they end up checking out early or do something so dumb that they need to be booted.

I guess this trade is the straw for me. I either tip one way or the other.

Is this a money league? There is no incentive if GM's lose interest. If rest of league didn't vote to veto, then trade okay. Hard to evaluate trade in dynasty when prospects involved and there is a cap. 2-3 years from now this may look like a great deal the other way or it could really stink then. Ist pick is this from the entry draft? you could have also PM'd a few other managers to see what they really thought.

We were one vote out from the trade being cancelled but a couple of managers have checked out already.

The winner takes home $1000, so the fact people check out and/or give up 6 weeks before the playoffs when there's actaully hope for making the playoffs is upsetting.

Anyway, Thanks for the input everyone! I think I'm handing over the commissoner keys to someone else in the league after this season and will focus on other leagues that I'm participating in.
