Per @PierreVLeBrun, the Ducks and Jakob Silfverberg have "essentially" come to an agreement on a five-year contract extension. They can't make the official announcement for a bit because of salary-cap tagging issues. At any rate, Silfverberg is off the trade market.

Also they did not handcuff themselves long term

One thing to remember, Silfverberg will be 33 when the five-year deal expires, not 35 or 36 as with the Getzlaf, Perry and Kesler deals. That's also assuming the five-year term is correct. Trying to confirm, but GMIHCBM is away from the team for personal reasons for next 2 days.

I can't list my 2nd main keeper as there are too many players, but it is a keep all H2H points-only league

Interesting. I thought he was on his way out at the deadline.

Odd signing. He has never really panned out there and there are several good-looking young wingers on the rise in that organization.

I don't watch many ANA games, but isn't he a solid two-way player?

He is, but that's not enough to be a real top-six forward. To me the biggest issue here is how their roster is built. They have a lot of big money commitments already so to me it makes more sense to deal Silfverberg to create some cap/roster flexibility. They'll need that beyond this year.

Something tells me Kesler will be on LTIR after this season, so that'll free up lots of room

Haha, I mean in comparison to Getz, Perry and Kesler. Much better to deal with a declining player at 33 than 36!

UGH... This the "Loui Eriksson-lite" contact.

It does not look today and certainly will not age well.
