    Default Potential Matthews trade

I have an offer right now for

    Matthews
    for
    Tolvanen
    Boqvist
2nd rounder (would be around 35-40th overall)

    I'm thinking of countering for

    Matthews
    for
    Tolvanen
    Q. Hughes
1st rounder (would be 15-20th overall)

Do you like any of those or should I stick with Matthews?

Thanks ahead of time, appreciate the advice.

I would not trade Matthews. He is a player that you should focus on building your team around. Currently has proven himself as a capable franchise Center with considerable upside. The players that you are evaluating are unproven. I may be biased because I am not much of a Tolvanen fan. But I believe that trading Matthews would be a mistake.

No. No, no, no, no, no.

Matthews hasn't even scratched the bottom of his potential yet. Do NOT trade him for a bunch of maybes.

Agree with the others. You're not even close with these options.

Side note I spent way too long trying to figure out who H(arley) Quinn was supposed to be.

    Easy Pass on the trades.

Hah. I actually assumed the op meant Q. Hughes not H. Quinn.

Yes to be clear it doesn't matter. Prospects and picks are not enough for Matthews (a star that when healthy has been one of the top goal scorers in the league for the past few years and he is elite in virtually every aspect of his game). You need way more certainty back to consider trading him. Even in a cap league I wouldn't make this trade.

I'm a huge Hughes fan but... no. It's Matthews. If I wanted to move Matthews, I would need 3-4 Quinn Hugheses.

Matthews is one of those guys you don't trade unless his contract is up and you're well out of contention and you still ask for multi players and/or picks back, speaking from a 3 yr Keeper league Pts only POV.
Fantrax 3 Year Keeper League (11 keepers; 3 yr contract); 14 teams, 20 player roster (15 weekly starters; 5 man bench)

    Dress 3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 6 D (Set once weekly, prior to Monday's games)

***Contract year indicates starting year of final contract year (ie: 2019 = 2019-2020 season)

    Heading into the draft Roster:
    C - Pettersson (2020), Larkin (2019), Barzal (2019)
    LW - Meier (2020), Hall (2020)
    RW - Mantha (2020), Svechnikov (2020), Wheeler (2019; acquired pre-draft)
    D - Hronek (2020), C Makar (2020), Klingberg (2019l acquired pre-draft)

I'm with everyone else here. If Matthews was 29 and you were in rebuild, then i'd somewhat consider but still would want more. As someone who has Matthews and is in a rebuild, never take this deal

Neither of those options are close to enough to warrant moving Matthews. The starting asking point should be 2 65+ players and a high 1st round pick if you need the depth or cap savings or need to move Matthews for some other reason.

(and I am not even a fan of Matthews)

Hard no. If you're trading Matthews, there better be a guy coming back with a name like "Eichel" or "Pettersson" or at the very least "Barzal" in addition to other pieces.

Insulting offer. Can’t believe someone would even consider this.
