Hey everyone,
I just recently traded for Nikita Kucherov in my dynasty cap league (league details below). I think it was an absolute steal of a deal. The owner posted that he was looking to move Kucherov for assets as he was out of the playoff picture. I originally offered Nate Schmidt (2.2) + Ho-Sang (minors) + 1st (2020) + 2nd (2020) + 3rd (2020) as a way to get the conversation started. (I would have offered some 2019 picks but I used all those to acquire Trocheck and PLD earlier in the year).
When he responded with a counter of Miles Wood (2.75) + Tippett (minors) + 1st (2020) + 2nd (2020) + 3rd (2020), I jumped at it.
The deal generated a lot of discussion in our league with many feeling the deal was lopsided... but it didn't get vetoed.
Now I am thinking about flipping Kuch to another owner for 1st (2019) + 2nd (2019) + 2nd (2019) + 1st (2020) + 1st (2020) + 2nd (2020) + 2nd (2020).
What do you guys think about this?
On one hand, flipping Wood + Tippett + 3rd (2020) for 1st (2019) + 2nd (2019) + 2nd (2019) + 1st (2020) + 2nd (2020) is pretty amazing.
On the other hand... Kucherov.

Depends what you would then use the cap space for. If you can fill it with talent and still be in contention, maybe not a bad deal. Otherwise I would just be happy keeping Kuch.

Between Kuch's cap and what I have in the bank, I'd have about 5.2 to play with... in that range I could grab Williams, Carter, or (with a corresponding move to save an extra .5m) Granlund.
So functional but not awe inspiring.
If Kuch was a pure rental, I think I would take the deal. I could still be competitive with the team I have. But, with the cap going up and my league switching next year from aav to cap hit (saving me the bonuses on all my ELCs), having Kuch at 9.5m doesn't look too bad.

In that case I think I would keep him. Unless those first round picks are supposed to be top 2-3.

Chances are you don't reap the rewards from any of the picks for a minimum of 3ish years. And while flipping him for a lot more than what you paid is always enticing, having a top 3 player in the league on your roster is the ultimate end game, so keep him and win a championship.
FWIW, I'd be angry if I were the other owners as well. You just got lucky, and didn't even have to pay for dinner.
