Mackinnon for Petterson+ ?
I started a post the other day about Seguin for Pettersson. I’m willing to do that but the other GM wants to keep Petterson.
He asked about Mackinnon who is my top player. I’m not too interested in moving him...but the other GM said he’s willing to move some keepers for him. He has some nice pieces:
Scheifele
Pettersson
Aho
Laine
Ristolainen
If you were me, would a package of any of these players be enough to trade away Mackinnon?

At first glance, I would have a hard time saying no to Mackinnon/non-keeper for Pettersson/Scheifele.

Mackinnon was 3rd in fantasy points last year and currently 3rd again this year.
Scheifele and Pettersson is kinda the only package that is interesting enough for me to consider it...but will I end up regretting that?

So I see your 8th keeper as one of keller/oel/provorov.
The question is this:
Is Mackinnon and one of oel/keller/Provo better or worse than pettersson/schiefele
Without forward positions counting its awful close for me. I hate giving up the best player in a deal. I really hate giving up the best player in a limited keeper like this one.
I don't want to trade one of the top 3 players in the game in a keep 8 unless one of the other 2 is coming back. I'd revisit if he was willing to go 3 for 1.
Another consideration is that your weakest position is defense. If you did move Mack I'd like to see a top d man in the deal and Risto isn't the guy I'd be targeting.
Bottom line: I'm keeping Mackinnon in a keep 8 almost always.

I’ve been chatting with the GM and he doesn’t really want to do Scheifele and Pettersson for Mac. So I think the trade talks are dead in the water right now. Nothing else entices me enough to even consider it. Thanks guys!

If you want to pursue this, offer the other GM MacKinnon and Keller for Scheifele and Pettersson.
