Past the midway point of the year so it might be fun to begin musing on this...

I'll take the relatively easy route and say Preds over Lightning in 6.

I don't think any of the lower playoff teams in the West are good enough to go on a long run. In the Pacific, I think SJ comes out, and in the Central, I think NSH takes this year's coin flip with WPG. SJ's shaky goaltending and the Preds' depth takes over taking them to the finals.

In the East, I think there's TBay, and then everyone else. However, if the playoffs started today, they would have to go through Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Washington, just to get out of the East. That's a gauntlet, and I think they fall to Washington as a result.

Worth noting for any gamblers out there....the in season futures actually adjust based on points on bet 365. So for instance right now they think Columbus has a better chance to go to the Cup right now than Pittsburgh or Washington because they're ahead in the standings. Calgary has better odds than Nashville and Winnipeg.

Just in case anyone is interested in exploiting what I think is a flaw....

San Jose over the Capitals in 6. Outside of nashville or Winnipeg (who should beat each other up), the sharks have a much easier path to the finals than any other team. If they can stay healthy watch out.
