Tippett

Guy in my league is looking to trade Owen Tippett, looking for a prospect (particularly A D) and since I’m rebuilding I reached out.

My D prospects are: K’Andre Miller, Quinn Hughes, Alexander Alexeyev, Jake Bean, Urho Vaakanainen, with Hannifin, Lajoie and Valimaki in the majors.

My wing depth is non-existent outside of Meskanen and Formenton, which are hardly grade A prospects.

He’s asked for Hughes but I wasn’t interested, hinted at Miller and I’m open but reluctant. Wondering who’d be a fair offer for Tippett?

I wouldnt trade Hughes or Bean. The other minor league guys would be open to a deal for Tippett for me.

I'd put Miller on the prefer to not trade list... and I'd bump him in front of Bean. I wouldn't read into Valimaki's first season either.. i'd want to hold. I'd start with Lajoie see how little he likes it, and what his counter is.

If he hinted at Miller, I would do that in a heartbeat.

Expecially when you already have young guys in the majors and you have Hughes and Bean.

Tippett easily becomes your best wing prospect and you are trading at best your 3rd D prospect. Not considering your young guys in the NHL.

Under no circumstances should you trade Q. Hughes away. The other D are fine to send for Tippett.

Agree with the previous posters. In your situation I would pretty happily trade Miller or Bean for Tippett.

I would try with Lajoie. He had a great start but we see that he is not a so good Dman.

I don't follow Miller a lot but he seems doing fine in NCAA so I would try to keep him.

BUT, like someone just said, Tippett become easily your top F prospect, so Hugues become the only unavailable for me.

At the end of the day, you are probably going to have to give up something you dont want to give to get something you really want. Hopefully it's not as bad as you want to give.

Thanks for all your help and advice everyone, I really appreciate it. Rep given where I could. I opened the conversation around Alexeyev, and he's interested but not overly enthused. He really wants Hughes and that's a big no-no for me. No doubt I'll be back for more advice soon! haha

Seen Tippett play live many times. He's definitely got the talent. If he makes it, he will be a high end producer; or he went make it period. There's no in between in his game. So offensively talented and a wicked shot to boot.

Alexeyev for Tippett isn't realistic, but it didn't hurt to ask. I'd do Miller, since you are trading from an area of relative strength to shore up a weakness.

Yeah I wasn’t expecting a yes but it never hurts and it started a conversation. He said for Miller he’d want more added, didn’t specify what exactly. I thought it was a pretty fair swap myself..

This doesn't surprise me. Tippett was a 10th overall pick and has a year more development. Miller was drafted 20+ overall. Tippett is a better prospect, IMO.
