Default Is Dahlin a surefire keeper?

    Hey guys.

    League not in sig.

    Skater Stats

G, A, PP, SOG, Hit Blk
    Keep 7

    Currently my surefire keepers are....

    Andersen
    Kucherov
    Seguin
    Marner

Then deciding between the following for the next 3

    Monahan
    Trochek
    Panarin
    Guentzel
    Paches
    Ghost
    Dahlin

Dahlin was originally a surefire for me, but I'm debating if I should offer him up to a lower tier team for someone who could help me more this year. I'm definitely in the running and his current year isnt the greatest. I think I have a solid enough group of others that could offset it?

    Thoughts??
    Team 1:

G, A, SOG, PPP, SOG, Hit, Blk, W, SV%, GAA, SO

C - Matthews, Crosby, Point, Seguin
LW - Miller, Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Kaprizov, Schenn
RW - Terry, Necas, Reinhart, Boeser
D - Hedman, Pionk, Hanifin, McNabb
    G - Hellebyuck, Ullmark
    IR - Wilson, Petry

    Team 2:

    G, A, PP, SOG, Hit, Blk, W, GAA, SV%,

    C - Kopitar, Hischier, Rantane
    LW - Panarin, Guentzel, RNH
RW - Marner, Kucherov, R. Smith
D - Makar, Hamilton, Heisknen, Dillon
    G - Vasilevskiy, Hellebyuck, Ullmark
    IR - Wilson, Aho, Theodore

Id probably keep him over Ghost, Patches and Guentzel....but how many teams in the league? And what is the roster size? That will determine if I would keep him at this point.

I get moving Dahlin for immediate help, but I'm trading him based on his projected ceiling. If there's a rebuilding team with some stud late 20's players, then yeah, I'd consider making that move to put me over the top.

I also expect a better second half from Dahlin, so if you don't get what you need. Then I'd be good holding onto him for the season.

with SOG, HITS as cats - I move Trochek onto your list of 'surefire' keepers as well.

that leaves you two spots for Panarin/guentzel/monahan & Dahlin. --

Honestly, I forget about my keepers if you're in the thick of the hunt. Make moves that will get you the win - Sort the final slots out later.

It's a 10 team league. Have 4 D starts any given week. Total roster is 17 including 2 goalies.

I agree with doing what need be for this year to win, but I wonder if it would be worth giving up on his future potential. I would probably only do the trade if I got a current top multicat Dman - Gio, Doughty, Buff etc. If that's realistic?

    Thanks for the replies!!

I worry that Gio/Buff would be too short of a string based on age to make that deal. If I was 10th and had Buff or Gio... I'm mash accepting for Dahlin. that's a massive win for last. I'd be aiming for for Hedman & add something if I needed to. It's amazing the outlook last will have on youth & keepers. You should be able to get Gio for less if he's on a bad team.

With that roster and Dahlin, you should be able to sell him to a weaker team for a player upgrade AND a pick. That is what I would do. Get the win.

In the past 5 years I've dealt Laine, Tarasenko, Schiefele, Leon (and probably more I'm not remembering) in order to go for the title.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

If I dealt him it would be for help this year only and a pick or another upgrade. Which is why Gio or Buff would be acceptable - - both of whom are in top team rosters so forget that anyways.

I'll see what I can muster up but would also be happy keeping him.

dont deal him, he's as much help as a top 2 d this year and will likely be elite for years to come

Dahlin is a sure fire keeper. He had 4 Grade A scoring chances in the 1st period tonight and he doesn't turn 19 for a 3 more months. The kid should be a consistent 50 point dman with the ability to be much, much more than that.
