E. Gustafsson - is he for real? (Rep)

I’m seriously considering dropping Shea Theodore for either him or Werenski (or dropping Ellis too and getting both of them). Thoughts? Roster & settings in sig. thanks!

He is good, but I wouldn't drop Theo or Ellis for him. However picking up Werenski for either of them is intriguing.

I don't think I would drop Theodore for him BUT Gus is now the top PP QB for a much better looking Hawks PP. He is not going to give you any grit stats but for your setting, he is definitely someone to consider. But I would go Werenski over either of them.

I picked up Gustufsson last week and he put up 8 points in 2 games in my league last week (really good for a defensemen). Small sample size I know. He's only recently seeing pp1 time and is pacing for 40+ points. If he can keep his deployment on pp1 I'll go against the grain and take him to out point Theodore the rest of the way.

Id prefer werenski to both of them with dumba out.

I think there is a good chance that his PP1 deployment sticks. Without Q at the helm playing the veterans too much, Gus should stay at the role considering he gives the Hawks a competent-look to their PP. Keith and Seabrook are awful on the PP as evidenced by the Hawks' lackluster PP over the years despite their elite talent.

I dropped Theo for Gustafsson, working well for me. Gus has more points this week then Theo in the past month and a half. I would take the chance, I don’t think you have worry about anyone going after Theo on the wire right now.

17 points in his last 20! Right now , he runs the top PP. I just don’t know if he will maintain this spot in 2-3 years because the Hawks have some really good prospects D ( Jokiharju,Boqvist,Krys,Mitchell ) But for now he’s a great add!

I seriously lucked out grabbing him with one of my last picks in my salary cap league. With only a $1 million salary, and the 70th (or thereabouts) dman taken in our pool, he has got to be the steal of the draft. It is unreal that he is the top scoring dman on my team. I thought he would be a decent pick up, but he has far exceeded my expectations.

This just goes to show the importance of opportunity. Right now, he is getting top power play time and as long as that continues, I don't see much changing.

That said, beyond this year and next, I don't know if he will be able to keep his spot (in fact, I highly doubt it and would sell high on him, if I had the opportunity).

A major plus for him is Colliton coaching the Hawks instead of Quennville. Gus will make some mistakes and is not great defensively. Those kinds of traits will quickly lead a dman into Q's doghouse. Colliton is more patient and will look at what a player can do rather than judge him based on his limitations.

I think down the road one of the youngsters will take the PP1 spot but not for a couple years. We know what the Hawks PP looks like with Keith or Seabrook running it and that is awful.

he's regularly getting 25min/night and now on pace for 48pts. I own him in 4/5 pools and in my limited keeper - targeted him a couple rounds earlier than I needed to - 12th in a keep 12 - just to ensure I got him. He started off ice cold, this season... I wouldn't be surprised if he pushes 50pts this season

Are the young guys Chi has coming really any better or are we just post-juniors giddy? Why do we assume the young guys coming are going to edge him out?

This guy is making his mark on this squad..another A tonite so far.
