Default Keeper strategy + Trade bait

Curious to know your strategy when choosing keepers in a salary cap league. Emphasis on salary cap!

Keep only best players disregarding salary? Mix of both? Contract lengths?

With team in signature, who would be sure keepers and who could be used as trade bait for draft picks? (I'm out this season)

Here's my list of ''sure/almost sure keepers'' :
    Forwards: Crosby 8,7, Pastrnak 6,667, Barzal 1,263, Kuznetsov 7,8, Huberdeau 5,9
Defense: Josi 4, Jokiharju 1,279, Hughes

Eichel has the highest upside but... 10M.
8 Teams - Season long points only limited keeper (7F, 4D, 1G) cap league using cap hit
    Active lineup : 20 (12F, 6D, 2G)
    Bench: 6 (3F, 2D, 1G)
10 trades for FAs + 10 moves between lineup and bench
    G (1 pt), A (1), W (2), SO (2), OTL (1)

F: McDavid, Stutzle, Hischier, Hyman, Konecny, Raymond, Perfetti, Guentzel, Bratt, Drouin, JT Miller, Peterka, Guenther, L. Carlsson, Zary
D: Makar, Q. Hughes, Malinski, Durzi, Harley, Sanderson, Clarke, Lundkvist
    G:Sorokin, Demko, Georgiev
NHL cap : $83.5 cap (bench doesn't count against cap)

    Maybe make this simpler!?

Would you try to protect one or more of Borgstrom, Batherson and Mittelstadt or just protect the big guns and jump on the young guys at next draft?

Does Eichel have any trade value?
FWIW, I'd keep Hedman over Letang...

Eichel has no trade value in my league.

Right now 3 are competing for first and the highest salaries are Draisaitlat 8,5M and Burns at 8M. So no McDavid, Ovechkin, Tavares etc. Pooler in 3rd had McDavid and switched him for Landeskog and Skinner. Poolers are scrambling to fill up on around 6M$ salaries.

I'm in 4th at almost 100pts behind first so looking to maybe make a few trades to grab a few draft picks.

I know if you use the search function, penguin has a lot of former posts about cap leagues and points-per-million versus replacement value, yadda yadda.

If nobody will trade for Eichel, then there's your answer: protect the kids that have value in your league.
