wow...Schneider is having a year to forgot...poor play, multiple injuries.

Three more years after this one with a $6 million cap hit, and Kinkaid is a pending UFA. I wonder what NJ will do this off-season. Kinkaid has earned a new contract with his play this year, but he is going to want a huge raise and I can't see NJ paying him what he deserves with Schneider still under contract for that long.

Definitely going to be an interesting off-season for NJ.

I'd say his quality of play has been a real shot to the abdomen

The most intriguing idea that I have heard is to trade Schneider back to Vancouver for Markstrom. I think it makes some sense for both teams.

    - NJ gets stability in net with Markstrom under contract for this year and next.
    - Vancouver can start next year with a potential tandem of Schneider and Demko. Both have similar pedigrees and one may be a good mentor for the other.

I am sure that there needs to be other pieces included to balance out the deal and the contracts... But, I liked the idea when I heard it.

I always liked Schneider. He's a class-act and his game used to be dynamite.

He's obviously not the player he was though. I hope the Devils trade him somewhere and so he has a chance to revitalize his career, but what would they really get for him? Any team that needs a goalie doesn't need a $6M broken one.

It's going to be an interesting offseason. Kinkaid has played well, but I disagree that he's earned a huge raise. He's really not that great of a goalie. He's only starting out of necessity and he'd be abackup to the vast majority of starters in the league.

I hope everyone trashing Cory had the chance to read EF 31 thoughts

next year he is going to rebound and will be a great sleeper pick
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Yup, agreed. Just listened to the 31Thoughts pod and interviewing Roberto Luongo, he said it takes two years for goalie to recover from hip surgery. I have no reason to doubt him.

I've been saying this exact thing on this site for some time now

Glad the hockey "experts" are confirming my position

Rinne came back too soon and had a relapse. Schneider is no different

...and Rinne went sepsis post-surgery which exacerbated and prolonged recovery from his primary injury, not to mentioned the increased time period for conditioning to get back to hockey-shape. Point being, I'm keeping Schneider stashed for now. He's a clear "hold" candidate in dynasty formats imo.
