Trade offer For Pettersson

Keep 11 league, top team from my sig. He included a message that indicated he thinks this is just a starting point and was willing to entertain counter offers.

trade:

Pettersson and Charlie McAvoy

for

Burns and W. Nylander

its a decent offer I guess but I’m betting I can get more (and won’t accept this either way as is). I want to keep Burns in the deal as with him my defense would be practically untouchable, some other than Nylander, some forwards he has are Backstrom, Svechnikov, Giroux, Landeskog and Laine. Would countering for Burns, Giroux, Nylander make it acceptable? I get two surefire improvements and Nylander replaces, somewhat, the loss of Pettersson’s long term value. Any thoughts?

If your league counts a lot of peripheral categories, then Burns is extremely valuable. If you're a top team and could win now, then it's better to have Burns. The danger with keeping Burns is that he's already 33 and sooner than later, there's going to be a huge slow down.

I have Pettersson, sorry I should have clarified. What I meant was I definitely want to get Burns out of this deal

yeah, if the other guy is desperate enough to throw in a 3rd Star Player as the add on, and you can keep all 3 then that might be enough to push it over the line.

Not sure if he will be, we have the same record but he’s been active all season and I took over for a GM that was starting changing his lineup and had multiple IR players starting for weeks.

As it stands I’m not even keeping McAvoy, but I would keep Burns + at least 1 other from the deal. If it’s something like Burns, Giroux, Nylander I would probably keep all three but I’d have a tough decision to make... with no other changes I would have one keeper spot left and I’d have to choose from: Bergeron, Rinne, Letang, Marchessault and Voracek

I am trying to get Petterson in a roto limited keeper league, and I've been mulling the idea of offering Giroux + Boeser for Pettersson.
My league has a rookie spot so I badly need a solid rookie to maximize my keepers, which is helping with the decision. Haven't offered it yet but that's where my thoughts currently are.

Post in here if you pull off a trade for him, would love to hear how it goes!

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t accept that offer. Pettersson looks like he’s going to be the next Stamkos only faster and a better passer. The only reason I’m shopping him at all is i think I have the best shot in the league to win it all this season

its not a bad offer, it just doesn’t have a clear strategy. Giroux is a win-now vet that is maybe a slight upgrade over EP right now but Boeser is an asset for a rebuild. If his owner is rebuilding try swapping Giroux for another young guy and/or including a draft pick. If it’s win now then go the other way and maybe you get a pick back (if you are rebuilding/retooling).

For example the offer I’m entertaining is for Burns, arguably the best defenseman in fantasy, Nylander and I’m about to counter with Giroux added to it. It may take me giving back a pick but hey, anything for the Championship!
