aaand Pettersson just scored his 16th to go along with an assist...
This is a second part from an earlier post. The other manager is really considering this trade. I really don't want to lose Pettersson, but I can't/shouldn't keep 3 pure Cs and Matthews and Scheifele are locks (I think). Chabot could be a big boost to my D core for a long time. I'm from Ottawa so I watch a lot of games and I don't see why Chabot can't be a high-end Dman going forward.
Am I under-selling Pettersson?

Yes you're underselling big time imo. If you're going to move pettersson, who at this stage is an undeniable keeper in a keep 6,then you need to get an established undeniable keeper back. That's not chabot yet. Sample size is too small, he's a d man VS a forward which is tougher to predict year to year, too many secondary assists, due for negative regression etc.
I'd shop Schief as well as pettersson and let your entire league know they are available. Trade the one that brings back the best return.

I put Scheifele and Pettersson 'on the block' based on your and others' response from my last thread (thanks again), but no one has bit on Scheifele - only Pettersson. Unfortunately, the offers haven't been that great.

If you don't get a much better offer, just keep your 3 C's. Chabot is a very risky keeper; he's not worth Pettersson.
Pettersson >>> Chabot.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Pettersson should be able to net you a much better return than just Chabot. Like Als mentioned, if you can't get a return worth moving him for, don't move him...

Worry about this in the offseason. You have a team that can win. That's all that should matter.
In a 2C/2LW/2RW/4D setting, D have INCREDIBLE weight.
Yes, absolutely move Pettersson for Chabot.
You want to create the best team for yourself.
Pettersson WILL be a fantastic player, but this is still a net upgrade.
Scheifele and Matthews are indeed your keepers and almost every-week C starters.
C is deepest position in shallow fantasy hockey (2C leagues) - and this is exactly the case where you make this trade.
Chabot is immediately your top or 2nd best D.
...and the plot thickens, thanks Pengwin.

I would rather trade Petterson for an injured Subban/Klingberg or an established stud like Jones. I might even consider some steady consistent vets like Josi or Letang but at this point I am probably not going with Chabot. Young D scare me look at Weresnski or Ghost. There highly volatile. I do though agree in your league you need to get rid of a C though.

and petterssons sample size isnt small? lol..That's not chabot yet. Sample size is too small,
do i make this trade.. no but to continue to say stuff like "Chabots production isn't sustainable" or " the sample size is too small" is getting to be a bit annoying to be honest. have you even seen him play? the kid is silky smooth, and his production isnt dropping off like was expected.

Pettersson is a fantastic player all right, and so is Chabot. For both of them the sample size is small. It's their first season. We don't have a sure fire idea of their value. So it means that people who say that's the real deal and Chabot will undoubtely regress may be wrong. At this point I think it's just too fast.
I would stand pat for now. You have a team to win, you can let other GMs know that your players are available for an upgrade on D, so be patient and wait for an offer you can't refuse.

To be fair, he did also follow that up with - "he's a d man VS a forward which is tougher to predict year to year, too many secondary assists, due for negative regression etc."
Which are all true points. I think the point MZac was getting at is, they both have small sample sizes, but young Dmen outputs (usually) vary a lot more than young forwards and he'd buy buying high on Chabot in this case.
