    Default GPS Trackers for PEOPLE!?

Hey guys, I need some help!

I'm taking a group of students to Mexico City in March and I'll be honest I'm a little sketched out re: safety etc
I've done this for over a decade and we've been all around the world and never had a problem but regardless, I need some help!

I am looking to give them all (8 of them) a GPS tracking device that I can monitor from my phone if need be.
I'd like to keep the cost under $100 a device if possible and most importantly I would like to be able to see them all on whatever app or device I am using to track, don't want 8 different log-ins or something.

Wondering if you guys have any suggestions!?

Once out of range you can't track it unless someone else using the Tile App is nearby or something like that I think.

    Ah didn't know that.

How about "Find My Phone" App for their cells?

    Maybe "PocketFinder" https://pocketfinder.com/howitworks/

I don't think any of them will have cell service and I am thinking in a worst case scenario that phone gets thrown out the window of a moving vehicle know what I mean lol

I edited my post to include "PocketFinder".

If someone is throwing a cell out the window, they'll throw everything out the window as what you're looking for would be a device.

Yeah I saw pocketfinder, looks like $159 USD per device plus the $19 a month or something - obviously worth it if I think I am going to need this.
A buddy suggested a SIM CARD tracker from amazon or anywhere really im just not sure how all that works.

If you are into the $100+ range for considerations... I'd just spend ~$150 and get them all iPod Touch, 6th Gens.

It has two functions that will be helpful:
    1) "Find My Phone" - which is GPS tracking
    2) Family Sharing

You can set them all up as if they are your "kids" - which they kind of are, right!.
The iPod "GPS" is going to work like any other device... as long as battery is good & function turned on, it'll work.
We bought an iPod Touch for our 9-year old daughter (great option in place of a "phone") and she takes it everywhere.
    https://itstillworks.com/locate-lost...-gps-1885.html

With the family sharing, you can link a bunch of them... and also share apps - which can be nice.
Also - of course this will be a great keepsake - with lots of future use.

I once researched small-device GPS for when my kids were little and I was paranoid.
I tried finding if companies made shoes where the GPS could be hidden - but the big issue is the "battery" which takes up size.

Chargers for an iPod (Touch) will also be stock-available... even in Mexico City - something you'd want to consider.
Better to think about a "major manufacturer" device, so that you can get support FAST if you need it.
[Also - my cousin-in-law is a BIGGIE at apple, so if you DID lose somebody, I could help you get a little more serious help in GPS tracking.]

BTW - if you happen to be strongly considering this...
I have a 20% off coupon for Target (good ONLY thru Dec. 8th) - and you could consider ordering a bunch online from there.

    Those are running $185 currently.
You could do the math on 20% off.

The hitch is... I'm gonna make you drive to Scarborough to pick up a case of Panini hockey stickers from a shady location.
    (Seriously - anybody near Scarborough???)

Dude all great info thank you - so GPS tracking will work without cell data or wifi right?
Honestly I could probably just get old phones/i pods from people we know.

Also I am in Scarborough probably 3x a week lol what do you need, I can get them down to you DHL for cheap I just need some FOW in rhrs

Actually if GPS tracking will work without data or wifi then I may as well just get them to all bring their phones and/or an old phone and have them all linked to mine right?????

    Perhaps.
If they are "Apple" then you can probably do the "family sharing" thing that allows you access to their GPS tracking.
But if they are random devices - you'll have to search if there is an "app" that lets you track somebody else. I think there may be an app like that.

Police departments actually use phone "Location" all the time to solve modern crimes.
People got their phones with them these days almost all the time, even when committing major crimes!
    And not everybody has WiFi.

I'll email you about the Panini stickers - yeah, if you are in Scarborough... I'd really appreciate it.

How old are these kids? My advice would be to try to avoid spreading fear and paranoa to them by taking these kind of precautions. I see why you would want to do it, but I don't think it's necessary. Try to show them that the world is a good place, not a a bad one...
