Default Bouchard or heiskanen for next year.

Was offered Bouchard and a 1st for heiskanen. I am a huge fan of heiskanens and must admit I donÂ’t know a lot about Bouchard. I do know he has little in his way to snag a top pp role in Edmonton, but they donÂ’t always seem to handle prospects the best and Hitch might have more of a defensive impact on him. Who do you like for next year and going forward?

I'll be surprised if hitch will be there next season but regardless keep the guy that's already in the NHL and looks really good at 19 years old.

Heiskanen is an amazing offensive D, I’d put my faith in him.
Bouchard is an offensive prodigy too, but we don’t know if he’s gonna be able to put up numbers in the NHL next season, so Heiskanen is the best option imo

However, the first pick might turn the tables around

Question to folks on here regarding Bouchard. I didn't catch him in any games for the Oilers, but what is the actual upside we think he has. My family are Knights season ticket holders and are NOT fans. I chalked this up to ragging on your best players...but went and saw him play recently and he did not impress me in the slightest. Makes bone-headed plays in his own end, isn't a particularly impressive skater...he does have a solid shot, but is there bust potential here or am I missing something?

BTW, I do realize there is always bust potential, just asking I suppose what people think are the chances that he pans out.

    FWIW...I would take Heiskanan

Next season and maybe the one after that, Heiskanen.

I'd say Bouchard by that time might be able to catch him.

Bouchard showed nothing during his time in the roster, but that might be because McLelland did not give him enough time to show anything. From what I’ve heard, he’s not a great skater, but neither is he bad. However, while he does have an awesome production in the OHL, he was averaging nearly 30 minutes a game last season. Anyway, I’ve never seen him play in the OHL..

Thanks MoonstruckED_ I think maybe I too had too high expectations of him. Given his stats I was expecting to be impressed. Will be seeing them play a few times over the holidays and will go in with lower expectations, but I just didn't see modern PP1 QB on the ice when I was watching, can't see him walking the line and distributing, but perhaps he can be the big shot from the point.

Mclellan didn't really give him much in regards to quality ice time but that was more to protect/shelter him.

Heiskanen is more of a Doughty, Pietrangelo type Dman - He's going to be a blueline anchor - all situations, and still produce points

Bouchard is more of a Shattenkirk, Yandle type mold - he's going to produce points, possibly more than Heisk. but he's unlikely to become the same level true #1D Heisk will.

Bouchard has been described as a "general" in the way he sees the ice and skates : he doesn't join rushes much but he is described by Corey Pronman as the only exceptional passer in the whole EDM prospects system atm. So there is a distinct possibility he runs with EDM PP quickly.

Bust potential is there like any prospects (or growth time, etc.), but for me adding a 1st pick in it makes it more palatable, I would at least consider it!

This makes me excited to see more games of him live (and excited for the knight's prospects). I am not trying to rag on him, I would love for him to be successful, I just saw a lot of sloppy passes and questionable decisionmaking, but I will check back in a couple weeks after a couple more viewings.
