    McDavid – 120pts
    Blandisi – 112pts (126PIMs!)
    Dvorak – 109pts
    Labanc – 107pts
    DeBrincat – 104pts
    Mangiapane – 104pts
    Domi – 102pts
    Bertuzzi – 98pts

Holy did Yotes scouting core miss something in Strome’s game that wouldn’t translate to the NHL. How different the NHL would be if they picked Marner over Strome. Leafs either would have picked Strome or Hanifin, Leafs would have him in the top line, Nylander would be signed, Hamilton wouldn’t be in Carolina, Yotes would have a top player. Woah.
There was some chatter heading into the draft that if Arizona took Marner, the Leafs would have taken Provorov, not Hanifin. Going by memory, I have no source 'at hand' but that was a draft I scoured over leading up to it.

Ryan Johansen put up [only] 33 pts in 107 games before he turned 21...just to add some fodder

Perlini requests a trade. As of right now (I know it is still super early) this looks like more of a win for Arizona. It is still very early of course

Brendan Perlini on asking for a trade: "You want to play. Wherever that may be, it doesn't matter too much to me. As long as you play and get the opportunity, that's all you can ask for as a player."

More Perlini: "But like I said, I'm here right now and trying to create opportunities here in Chicago to play and work my hardest whether it's in practice or games."

Strome has 17 points in his last 26 Hawks games.

"More of a win" does not mean complete win as it may have come across, my bad there as I meant slightly more of a win.

I am referring to Perlini wanting to leave and the two main components of the trade for this season (right now) NS has in 9 points in 9 games while Strome has 4 points in 8 games, which makes it right now look like ARI is the slight winner

Not sure where you are seeing your numbers but Schmaltz actually has 23 pts in 26 games, not 15.

So Strome has more points in his last 26 games as Schmaltz has in his 26games.

In my mind this trade is a win-win. Both players have found really goods spots and are doing better than with their previous team. If you asked either team if they'd like a do over, I bet they'd both say "no thanks, happy with deal." Hence, a win-win, even trade (imo)

Perlini isn't exactly a lost cause yet for Chicago. There's still a chance they can flip him for a pick. So at least they can fetch something out of that investment.

    Interesting Item:

The OHL appears to have been a grossly overrated talent-valuation in the 2014 NHL entry draft.
I'd bet that if that draft was "redone"... probably 4 out of every 5 OHL draftees in the first 3 rounds are going later... if not significantly later.

    1. Ekblad
    4. Bennett
    5. Dal Colle
    10. Ritchie
    12. Perlini
    19. DeAngelo
    21. Fabbri
    24. McCann
    27. Goldobin
    28. Ho-Sang

(Non-OHLers include: Draisaitl, Reinhart, Nylander, Ehlers, Larkin, Sanheim, Tuch, Schmaltz, Kapanen... Brayden Point in the 3rd round).

At least Perlini has 200 NHL gp.
Dal Colle is sitting at 41gp...
    And poor Connor Bleackley: Bust.City.(Twice)
hockeydb has one of my favourite grids to look at production by draft year/slot. 2014

FWIW, the 2012 OHL draft class was pretty shit too.

As pointed out, Schmaltz has 23 p in 26 GP, so he has outproduced Strome on a p/g basis. Not really saying it's a win for either side, just that the earlier numbers were misquoted.
