As a Hawks fan I think I like this. At least it gives the Hawks more story lines.

I wonder if Schmaltz takes Perlinis spot on the top line?

The fantasy take on the trade:
    https://dobberhockey.com/hockey-home...e-and-perlini/

Personally, I think this trade is a head-scratcher for the Coyotes. I know Chayka probably fell in love with Schmaltz's puck possession, but that's a steep price of potential young talent that they're giving up in return. Especially if Strome pans out and recaptures his OHL Erie Otters magic with DeBrincat.

Skating issues more like. Just can't keep up in today's NHL.

This could be great for DeBrincat, him and Strome are buds and had ridiculous chemistry together in junior. We might see a DeBrincat-Strome-Kane line that could show a lot of promise. Plus with Schmaltz gone it's one less guy in his way for PP1 time.

Almost any way you slice it this move has a lot of potential for us Cat owners.

The junior connection with DeBrincat and also Schmaltz was RFA after the season.
Hawks probably did not want to get caught up in $$$.

It's either a trade that completely changes the future of Chicago, or it's a trade that's completely forgotten in 3 months. It's prolly the latter.....check that, completely forgotten in 3days.

The Strome brothers may set a record for trades by siblings. What a couple of dissapointing kids. This guy went after McDavid and Eichel and ahead of Marner. Yikes. Arizona may need an overhaul in their scouting staff. First Domi now Strome.

Wow, I looked at the 2014-15 OHL scoring leaders:
    D.Strome – 129pts
    Marner – 126pts
    McDavid – 120pts
    Blandisi – 112pts (126PIMs!)
    Dvorak – 109pts
    Labanc – 107pts
    DeBrincat – 104pts
    Mangiapane – 104pts
    Domi – 102pts
    Bertuzzi – 98pts

Holy did Yotes scouting core miss something in Strome’s game that wouldn’t translate to the NHL. How different the NHL would be if they picked Marner over Strome. Leafs either would have picked Strome or Hanifin, Leafs would have him in the top line, Nylander would be signed, Hamilton wouldn’t be in Carolina, Yotes would have a top player. Woah.
