Hi everyone,
I'm in a keeper, point only, non position and I'm last because I take a team after someone quit.
I might offer a trade trying to have Robert Thomas. I need to know how good could he be in 3-4 years. Just to give me an idea, do you think he could be worse, equal or better than let say Cam Atkinson?
Any information regarding Robert Thomas will be appreciate.
Thanks

I watched him play multiple times live with the Knights, I think you are looking at a middle six forward long-term

I'd agree with that, but I also think performance in juniors is a poor barometer for some players. He doesn't seem to have a true dynamic element to his game, and that's what jumps out at the junior level IMO. Horvat is flashier. If you've watched them both play that much, though, it's definitely a lot more than I have.
I think where Thomas gets his value is from being an extremely cerebral player, who is effective in all situations and can play a 200ft game. His game is a dying breed in youth hockey and it's becoming more underappreciated by the day. That player-type is a surefire NHLer nearly every time, but for most guys that play that game, it takes a while to be NHL-ready and their ultimate offensive upside is more risk/reward.
Obviously Horvat does all those things too, does them better, and made a quick impact, but stylistically, I think it's fair to group him with guys who play the game like Horvat/Bergeron.
Whether he will score like them at the NHL level is a totally different. He probably won't, but you never really know.
Thomas is one of my favourite prospects.
He's got almost no flash.
It's all super high-level hockey smarts with good-to-great skill in every cat.
You know who else almost has no flash... Crosby. Also, Gretzky was mostly no-flash.
Except that we all watched Crosby's point-totals blow away the competition.
Thomas will be Crosby-lite. 80-90pts in his prime.
Pengwin Stamp-of-Approval on the Kid. (agree with Horvat/Bergeron comparisons.)
But Doubters keep Doubtin.
Oh... and ps. Peng's fave NHL-er is his roommate.
Didn't know that, did yas?
Big Walt is watchin' over young Rob.
Just stay out of Big Walt's chair, Robby.
And don't you dare touch that remote.
To the OP: what where you thinking of offering to acquire Thomas and who is on your current team?
