For a guy that has a career high of 38 pts, you'd think we were talking about an elite offensive defenseman. That's the thing with paces, paces can fall off at any moment, whereas 82 games is a sure thing. Looking at his underlying numbers, everything seems in line with his normal numbers, with the exemption of his personal shooting %. If he shot at his normal career shooting % (9%), he'd have 2 more goals. 10pts in 17 games seems about right.
If you have someone at sees his 32pts in 44 games last year as a buy low, I'd package Ellis for someone that doesn't hurt you in the other peripheries.
