Goalies for Sale - Should I Accept Any of These Trades?
League in my signature. I'm currently in 2nd place well behind the leader who's got a very deep team compared to my top heavy bunch. Looking to shore up my goaltending, I've got the two offers on the table but am balking at both. Wonder what all you gurus think of each option.
Trade 1
I get Brobovsky
I give Demko + Grubauer + 1st round pick + some other small piece
My hesitation is that I feel this is a steep price to pay for Brob. It feels like I may be better off waiting for Grub and Demko to develop and leave me loaded in nets
Trade 2
I get Varlamov
I give Demko + 1st or some other small piece
My hesitation on this one is that I just acquired Halak and making this trade would mean 6 of my roster spots would be taken up by goalies. Varly's situation is also somewhat up in the air.
I'm not sure either trade would be enough to win the title this year. Should I keep what I have now and be patient with guys like Grubauer and Demko or would you roll the dice on one of the above trades?

Bob for a backup, a maybe, and some lottery tickets? I'd take that. He's starting to look like Vezina Bob again lately.

Bobrovsky will come around, elite players like him always do. My only hesitancy is giving up a future starter in Demko and a first rounder for a 30 year old. However, you're in second and sometimes you just have to have say "screw it" and make the move, future be damned. Bob could be the piece to throw you over the top.

The advantage to the Varlamov deal is that it's cheap, and locks up the Avalanche crease. The advantage to the Bobrovsky deal is that he's the best goalie in either deal.
The issue for me is that you're far behind the leader. Is this league with playoffs or just total season points? I'd take a hard look at what you think either deal nets you, and see if one goalie can make up the difference.

I would feel good if my goalies were Raanta, Bob, and Halak. Right now you have a bunch of time share goalies. Bob gets you a solid number 1.
