Would make sense his play if something is happening in his family. Take the time off and get everything in your life figured out. Could even go back as far as when they signed Halak, 10mill on goalies is a lot.

I'm completely speculating, but this is probably something to do with a sick family member. Seems to happen to a few players each year and, for privacy reasons, this is usually how teams handle it.
