You're right. Everyone believed he was going at #3 at worst and that Edmonton was inordinately lucky to get him at 4 after PL Dubois went at 3. Such is life.

Maybe it's because of the name similarity, but I think Puljujarvi and Paajarvi have way more in common than surname and nationality. I would probably add Yakupov to that duo, to make a trio of disappointment. All though when it comes to busting, Yakupov might be king.

Thats really nice return! I would take that in a blink of an eye. I have been following heponiemi closely in Liiga, and he is looking really good! Only thing that worries me with him is that panthers are really deep on prospects. Their top 6 is already stacked and they still have borgström, Tippett etc.. Although in the end good players always find their way ( look at how brayden point broke out in TBL for example)

Im a real contender for championship this year in our league and best offer i have got for puljujärvi is 2x 3rd round picks or krejci. Im stuck with him and its really frustrating! I even named my team after him couple years ago as i started my rebuild ( Finnish Poolparty Co.)

I thought columbus made a mistake passing on JP and going with PLD . Thats why Jaarmo makes the big bucks and I'm an armchair gm

If you put some context to the numbers and remember his performance at WJC (and his age at the time), the surprise is warranted (and that's not to mention the scouts reports that put him right up there skill wise)

You could however point out that he was brought to the NHL too soon : if he had the chance to lit up "any league" beside NHL we wouldn't be where we are today.

I was one of those people. The Oilers are on the road to ruining him, as they tend to do. Stick him in the A for a couple of years and leave him there to mature and gain confidence.

Pulj is the type of player Hitch won't play until he sorts out his defensive game imo. But we're talking about a guy currently in the minors anyway and a coach that only has a deal until this upcoming summer. So much can change id take a wait and see with pulj. Unless someone really wants him and is willing to pay a reasonable price id just hold on in a minor system or in deeper leagues. In shallower leagues with no minors this guy is waiver wire material and has been all season.
