He starting to eat into barrie's top pp time? What's his outlook test of season and beyond?

He was on at the end of regulation with the top unit the past 2 games, as well as on with Rantanen & Mack to start OT vs the Canucks. Not only is he cutting into his top PP time, but it looks like he's being deployed in the major situations over him as well. I'm not sure it's something that will continue to happen for the rest of the season but its definitely something to monitor.

As for this season, I see him in the 35 point range with a chance to hit 40 if he can continue to get the top minutes.

Beyond this season - Barrie has this year and next left on his contract, and has been in trade rumors the past 2 or 3 years. If I was a betting man (which I am) I'd say Barrie is gone before his contract is up, and Girard has the keys to the top unit for years to come. The Avs have a plethora of young talented D just waiting for a shot (Makar/Timmins) which makes moving on from Barrie a little easier. (Mind you, this is just speculation)

Bednar confirmed today that Girard is going to stay on the top PP against Nashville because he has earned it. Barrie has not been as good this year as the last couple of years, I think the Ian Cole/Barrie pairing is part of that but Girard is getting ice time and PP opportunity. The points should start coming.

In a keeper league, there’s probably someone better you can drop.

In a one year league, it’s orobabky a wash tbh

So I decided to watch the Colorado vs Nashville game to see for myself why Girard might deserve the PP 1 spot over Barrie. Girard looked horrible. He made a bunch of unforced errors and coughed up an ugly minus 3 on the night.

Colorado has lost it's last 4 games, 3 of which saw Girard running majority of PP #1. Don't fix what ain't broken. I expect Barrie will be back in his role as PP quarterback on that first unit soon enough.

I think long term Girard is a stud, but I don't think he is currently a better player than Barrie.

I need to pick up a defenseman and still can't decide between Girard or Dunn.

I think both will be off PP1 soon enough but girard should get a decent chunk of 5on5 time due to playing with EJ.

Often times... when a stud struggles - they change things around to get him going. Let's be honest here... the PP1 for Col hasn't been producing ALL YEAR. PP2 has... Barrie - Girard are the two easiest pieces to swap around. Especially when Barrie hasn't been going at 5x5 like Col's top line.

I'd chalk this up to more of an extended stay on the 4th line for a forward that's struggling.. In 2-3 weeks, expect Barrie to be back with confidence

Must say Girard is looking good on PP#2 in Colorado last two games. Definitely much better than the game I watched last week. I thought when Barrie got PP#1 back Girard would fall back off the map, but not so. I don't think Girard will continue at his current rate of production but I think 35-40 points is looking pretty possible. Since your league is points based Girard's lack of multi cat numbers won't hurt you.

I think Green should fall between 40-45 points.
