I lose interest after top 10. Not a fan of the Raps pick, good defensively but needs to grow as a shooter. When Mobley was taken thought Suggs was a lock. We shall see.

    Man that sucked.

Worst scenario possible. Should have taken Suggs at 4 - he's a surer bet and at least his trade value is high.

Barnes is a raw prospect... hopefully he's not Bargnani 2.0

Is it just me or do the Raptors seem to go off the board every damn year at draft time. I know, Barnes was probably going 5th so it's not like it was a complete off the board pick, but everything I read/heard leading up to this draft said the top 4 guys were money and it dropped off after that. The 4th guy being Suggs, not Barnes. He was the start of the dropoff.

Its almost like they look at the draft pundits and say "we'll show you". Barnes is basically more of OG and Pascal, and their greatest need was at guard. That should have been a pretty easy pick IMO.

Leafs believe in drafting guys who's flaws are something you can fix, and the things that the player has can't be taught.

Long, athletic, defensive minded. OG, Siakam, Caboclo, and tried to trade up to get Giannis. They have a model for their guys and it's high ceiling in 2-3yrs. I was expecting Suggs, he's likely going to end up the better player right off the bat, but Barnes is a great piece that Toronto can develop into a better player than Suggs. Barnes is like 6'8" but a 7'3" wingspan and Suggs is 6'4" with a 6'6" wingspan.

Toronto worries about the high ceiling, not the low floor with their picks. Which, I like. Lets go Barnes, dudes got high energy and I can't see how he'll be disliked.

Kinda cool part of this is Barnes is Jamaican (background), and apparently has some family in Toronto. So he at least knows of the city, and likely going into the city with a more open mindset of enjoying his time there.

The one thing I like about Barnes was his reaction to being drafted. He was genuinely PUMPED! Wants to be here.

Sometimes u draft the best player and he doesn't want to come, which puts you in a much worse situation later on. Still remember the Steve Francis debacle...

I wonder if his reaction was more about going 4th ahead of Suggs than his destination.

General shock at hearing your name when you weren't expecting it prolly was the initial reaction, but his personality shone through when he started dancing with his table.

Pretty sure if he didn't want to go to Toronto that would trump going 4th lol

Suggs on the other hand looked super happy that he wasn't taken 4th LOL... I think his reaction at not being taken was even more enthusiastic than Barnes

I heard Barnes was slated to go 5th to Orlando. I'm not certain moving up one spot in the draft would excite one that much. They've had their eyes on him for some time and have been scouting his progress for years according Bobby Webster. Raw, but has Draymond Green potential (per TV telecast announcers).

Lowry to Miami in a sign and trade? Dragic coming back. Good deal since it’s simply not in the Raptor plans to sign an aging Lowry to a 3yr/$90M deal. See you at the retirement party Kyle.

And to think, they had his replacement sitting right in front of them at 4th overall in Suggs. Ugh!

Kyle Lowry is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Miami Heat via sign and trade with the Toronto Raptors, sources tell
