Default Drop Kovalchuk for Tomas Hertl ?

I see that Tomas Hertl is playing on the 1st line and 1st PP (although only 1 PPP this year). He also hits and block shots. Could he do 60 points this year?
Should I drop Kovalchuk for him? Thanks.

I preferred Hertl before the season started, and I still prefer Hertl.

daniele, how many points do you project for kovalchuk ? It seems most people on these forums see him as a 55-60 points player.

Hertl is breaking out; LA looks like a disaster. Should be close but I'll take Hertl

Hertl had 11 points in the last 13 games last season when they moved him to Couture's wing and then had 9 points in 9 playoff games.

This production is just a continuation of his likely new norm. Thornton is old, Marleau is gone. Hertl is likely now a mainstay on that PP.

Even if Hertl is only a 50+ point player, which is likely at this point in his career, he is still more valuable than Kovalchuk with those categories. If he can find another gear and become a 60+ point player, then you've got a multi-cat stud on your hands. Things really are happening in San Jose. Their underlying numbers are incredible, they are dominating shot shares and have healthy expected goals. The Hertl-Couture-Meier line has been pretty effective, and I would expect that to continue as all three of those guys are really talented players in their own right. I know we've been burned before, but maybe this is the real Hertl breakout season?
