What’s the true expectations for Stamkos going forward. Is it safe to say he’s no longer a point per game player? What is going on with him in Tampa?

He's probably upset for not signing with Toronto.
Cleary he is missing Kucherov.
Stamkos is still a really good player.
But... there is sort of a perfect storm of things here.
1. TB is good. They protect leads now, so there is not much need for chasing goals.
2. TB is good. So Stammer plays 18min/gp, that's a 10% decrease from playing 20min/gp a few years ago.
3. TB is good. Stammer doesn't need to shoot as much, he's averaging less than 3sog/gp and he's under his career 16% shooting by quite a bit.
As a trickle down from the Yzerman days... Stevie Y was a high-scoring forward, but the cups came when the talent came and when Yzerman started scoring less and playing 2-way game a bit more.
Stamkos, going forward:
35-40g / year
30a / year.
Yes, this puts him as a 65-70pt player.
He had 41esa last year, quite an outlier since his career high previous was 27 esa (even-strength assist) in Year #2, #3.
I think everybody said "Oh, Stamkos is back to point-per-game".
But that assist-tally was too high for him.
I've always kind of considered Stamkos to be a very good player that looks elite when playing with St. Louis and Kuch

I think his days of being a ppg player are soon (if not already) done. Still a good player but agree with Peng above that expectations should be more in the 70pt range going forward.
4 pts last night--2G 2A. That puts him back to almost a PPG with 30 in 31 now. Personally I don't expect him to finish at a 90 pt pace like last year...but last night seems like a good reminder that he can be a hot stretch away from getting close, considering the loaded offense in TB.
Outside of his first 20 games last season (35 pts) he was a 72 pt player after all.
