Heiskanen is certainly the safer pick. He’s definitely a better real life player. However he’s also unlikely to ever supplant Klingberg. Bouchard could be running Conner’s PP for the next year in which case he could have more fantasy upside. It would be risky to choose Bouchard over Heiskanen.

Bouchard is probably only going to play 9 games.

I was about to post a very similar question though:

    Cholowski or Bouchard.
10 Team Limited Keeper (Keep 8) Points Only
    SALARY CAP (Player Salaries) League
    20 Player Teams = 12 Fwd 6 D 2 G

    My team: ???

In one year leagues, go with Heiskanen. I don't think Bouchard plays more than 9 games this year.

I'd also go with Cholowski over Bouchard, in one year leagues.
    12 team, H2H, salary cap
    1 pt/G or A, 2 pts/W, 1 pt/OTL, 1 pt/SO

    Forward: B. Point, M. Necas, A. Debrincat, T. Zegras, J. Bratt, L. Raymond
    Defense: J. Morrissey, A. DeAngelo, S. Gostisbehere, D. Doughty
    Goalie: T. Demko, E. Merzlikins
    Bench: M. Rossi, C. Glass, M. Maccelli, M. Dumba, K. Shattenkirk, F. Andersen
Prospects of Note: L. Stankoven, J. Lekkerimaki, D. Yurov, B. Clarke

What do people think of Bouchard's opportunity in Edm? Seems like he is getting one of the best opportunities a young d-man can get.

This year, who knows, maybe he sticks past 9 games. Long-term? Can he be a Klingberg-like or Krug-like QB getting 60 points? He has no one in front of him whereas Heiskanen has Klingberg. I feel that Heiskanen will be the better NHL d-man while Bouchard the better fantasy one.

Incidentally, I am even considering picking him over Zadina, based on needs (I almost never do that and pick BPA) and opportunity.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

It's been a hell of a long time Oilers been waiting for him. Klingberg is more a Karlsson like prod, wouldn't compare those guys, I'd say a Weber/Pietrangelo prod might be what he'll be able to reach.

Dallas does a pretty decent job of lowering ceilings on their prospects as well...

    Gurianov…
Did someone see him and Roope Hintz play?
Know they both had a couple of points but it doesn't necessarily means they played well..?

Sure, still a pretty valuable fantasy commodity.

I think Cholowski will be with Detroit all year. I could be wrong, but there seems to be more of a need in Detroit for what Cholowski can provide, especially with so many injuries to their blueline. Plus, Cholowski is a year older than Bouchard, so there isn't the same sense that he'd be "rushed" if they kept him in the NHL this year.

All that said, if we are talking about beyond this season, they obviously Bouchard is the player I'd want.
